  • Sinea Pies

Wow…this chili should be famous! How beautiful is that picture…wish I had a bowl right now!!!

  • Sherlyn

Julie – fleece lined tights under the dress pants!

    • Julie Evink

YES! I need to do that!

  • Carrie

I live in Sauk Rapids, and even though the cold gets old (really fast), I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else :) So happy I came across your blog!

    • Julie Evink

Welcome Carrie! Glad a local found me :)

  • Julie @ This Gal Cooks

Oh yeah, cumin is a must in most chili recipes! Your chili looks so good, Julie! Pinned. Hope you all are staying warm. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

  • Heather @ Sugar Dish Me

Hey Julie! I was so excited to see that Tanya picked this for our meal plan this week! It looks AMAZING! Love that the recipe is one of those that gets bounced around. You know those are the best ones! Stay warm!

    • Julie Evink

Thanks so much for including it Heather!!

  • Deb@CookingOnTheFrontBurner

Thanks for sharing this comfort food at our Marvelous Monday party! Pinned. PS – at least we aren’t in the negative temps today! Though the snow is coming… have a good week!

    • Julie Evink

And the blizzard now! I’m bundling up tight tomorrow..not I have to go work. YUCK!

  • Cathy@LemonTreeDwelling

Yes! I couldn’t agree more with your tips….especially staying inside and building giant fires!! I also sport my robe – often – all day long. Thanks for this delicious chili recipe!

    • Julie Evink

Haha…I sport sweats, a hoodie and ponytail!

  • Tonia

Of course, I totally understand about the weather! The school just called because the kids are getting out at noon today. Ugh!

    • Julie Evink

Kids here didn’t even make it to school today! Sounds like it’s supposed to be nasty tomorrow too :(

  • jessica

Do we use dry beans or canned? Do we drain cans of tomatos?

    • Julie Evink

The beans are canned and do not drain the tomatoes!

  • Jen @ Yummy Healthy Easy

This chili sounds fab and easy too! Love it, Julie! Hopefully it warms up there soon!

  • Lisa

Is the can of chili beans seasoned with spices?

    • Julie Evink

My can just said chili beans!

  • Theresa

Can you tell me about how many this recipe will feed??

    • Julie Evink

Around 12 would be my guess!

  • Jess

I loved this recipe last time I made it but now the page is telling me there is an error and the page can’t be found! I would love this recipe again!!

  • Mary Helen

Could I leave out the onion? Also, could I just add everything together vs waiting the 1hr to add the spices and the another 2hrs before serving? Last minute pumpkin carving party left me with very little time lol

    • Julie Evink

Yes you can leave out the onion and it’s fine to only cook 2 hours. Longer cooking just lets the spices meld a little better!

  • Kym

If I brown the meat first, can I just throw everything else in the crockpot for a few hours instead of stove top??

    • Julie Evink

Yes you sure can! I do it all the time!

  • Amber

    Hello Julie,

This recipe looks great! I am going to try it on Friday. I am having about 6 people coming over. Is it okay if I just make it with 2 pounds of meat? If I do, do I need to reduce all of the other ingredients?

    • Julie Evink

You can add less meat but the chili won’t be as thick and hearty. I’ve had other people adjust to just the two pounds of hamburger before and it’s fine!

  • lck

I made this chilli yesterday it was so good. Entering it in a chilli cookoff tomorrow. But I tweeked it a little and instead of the second xan of chilli I added a can of rotel. It is awesome.
