Ho Ho Ho! Christmas is on it’s way! Are ya ready? I’m totally not.

I’ve officially baked two different kinds of cookies. That made me feel like I made a great accomplishment in my life. Life is CRAZY.

I also wrapped all the gifts I’ve bought so far… that made me feel like a rockstar. Then I realized I still had a ton more to buy. Defeated.

But HEY we are all healthy and happy. That’s what’s important right?

This week we took the girls to adopt a child off the Wish Tree in town and then we went shopping. It was fun and I think it’s going to be an annual tradition. I did it before but without the girls. Miss K is getting old enough to help and she was so proud picking out what she thought the girl would like for clothes because they are the same age.

Followed it up with going to eat pizza and seeing Santa! That’s what the season is all about right? Taking care of each other and showing that there is love in this world still!

If you need me I’ll be in the kitchen baking cookies and listening to Christmas music this weekend!

Nutella Hot Chocolate - Quick and easy chocolate and hazelnut flavored Nutella Hot Chocolate. Perfect for chilly days!

Hello! Meet my new obsession. The easiest, tastiest, TWO ingredient hot chocolate.  I’m wondering how I ever made it through winter without Nutella Hot Chocolate. Where has this been my whole life?

I’m making up for lost time… Bring on another mug.

Nutella Hot Chocolate - Quick and easy chocolate and hazelnut flavored Nutella Hot Chocolate. Perfect for chilly days!

We have a tradition of drinking hot chocolate on the day we decorate our house for Christmas. As night falls, we turn on all the Christmas lights and enjoy our hot chocolate by the glow of our tree. Sometimes we have plain hot chocolate, sometimes we have White Hot Chocolate and sometimes the adults spike our hot chocolate. This year I took the simplest route possible and I stirred Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread into warm milk, which gave us Nutella Hot Chocolate!

You can serve this hot chocolate with only the milk and Nutella or you can add additional flavors. I chose to whisk in a little unsweetened cocoa powder for a stronger chocolate flavor. You could also add a shot of espresso (totally doing that next time), a sprinkle of cinnamon, or a splash of vanilla extract. You can go so many different directions with this; they will all be delicious!

Nutella Hot Chocolate - Quick and easy chocolate and hazelnut flavored Nutella Hot Chocolate. Perfect for chilly days!

Also, I’m thinking this recipe could be multiplied and placed in a slow cooker. If you’re hosting holiday guests they could help themselves to creamy Nutella Hot Chocolate right from the slow cooker. Oh, and then we could set up a little bar next to the hot chocolate and everyone could spike their drinks. Hazelnut liqueur? Chocolate liqueur? Bailey’s? Gah! OK, I’m totally doing this.

Nutella Hot Chocolate - Quick and easy chocolate and hazelnut flavored Nutella Hot Chocolate. Perfect for chilly days!

I also want to note that although I titled this recipe “Nutella” hot chocolate, you don’t have to use Nutella brand. There are several other brands of chocolate hazelnut spread and they should all work the same.

Now comes decision time… do you top your hot chocolate with marshmallows or whipped cream? I vote for whipped cream! My kiddos couldn’t decide, so I let them top ’em with both. ‘Tis the season!

I tackled a fear of mine today. It’s called yeast. I’m scared of it. It’s always been one of those ingredients that I will avoid at any cost. Usually it means that the recipe takes a long time to prepare and friends I just don’t have a lot of time for intricate recipes! Cinnamon Rolls always sound so amazing but I’ve made them exactly once with these Candied Bacon Cinnamon Rolls. They were fabulous, but time consuming, so I just never made them again much to my husband’s dismay!

Plus, it finally snowed here! It officially looks like a winter wonderland. Not only did it snow, we had a good old Minnesota Blizzard, which meant that there was no travel advised and I got sent home from work. Got to love those days!

It also means that I’m dreaming of everything Christmas. I want to decorate, buy presents, bake cookies, plan the holidays and celebrate with the family. The kids were outside playing in fresh snow today. Sledding, snowmobiling, you name it they were doing it. Those two girls could stay out there all day long. Luckily for me my hubs loves to be outdoors too. Mom, not so much. I’d rather be inside baking up a storm. I mean after playing in the snow you want to be welcomed into the house with fresh baked goodies don’t you?

I know I always did when I was a little girl! What beats something fresh out of the oven when you come in freezing, like to the point you can’t feel your fingers or toes anymore? I think this was always my favorite part of sledding!

Not only are these Sugar Cookie Easy Cinnamon Rolls great for a winter treat while enjoying the brisk outdoors they make a fabulous breakfast treat while having friends and family over for the holidays. I always love to make a big breakfast for my guests because it’s something they usually don’t get and I’m all about treating people!

I love that these come together in a little over a hour and you don’t have to wait for them to rise or anything. This is my kind of cinnamon roll! The easier the better in my opinion! Plus, they have a slight flavoring of Sugar Cookies from International Delight Frosted Sugar Cookie Creamer because what’s not better than Sugar Cookies in anything?

Whip up a batch of these Easy Cinnamon Rolls and grab a big mug of coffee with your International Delight Frosted Sugar Cookie Creamer and relax a bit this holiday season! Find your International Delight Frosted Sugar Cookie Creamer at these stores!

Can we talk breakfast? I love breakfast! I just wish I loved mornings as much as I love breakfast. In my perfect world my husband would get up every morning and greet me with a hot breakfast and a big cup of coffee to start the day. Unfortunately, my life is not perfect therefore I don’t get a hot breakfast every morning! But, hey, a person can dream right?

I’ve told you before that Sunday mornings were my favorite when I was growing up because I knew that Mom was going to prepare a hot breakfast and I loved waking up to the warm aroma wafting downstairs to greet me in the morning. Memories of childhood are just the best! Maybe I can convince her to come stay over night and greet me with a warm breakfast the next morning even if she only lives seven miles away!

Loaded Egg Bacon Cheese Waffles ~ The Ultimate Sweet & Savory Waffle! Eat this Comfort Food for Breakfast or Dinner Whichever You'd Like!

Some my favorite breakfast recipes are Easy Homemade PancakesCrunchy Pecan Banana French Toast, and Overnight French Toast Casserole! You can bet these are smothered with my favorite Hungry Jack syrup! The best part of the pancakes is you can totally make them on the weekend, double the batch and warm them up for a quick, warm breakfast during the week! My kids love this!

Did you know Hungry Jack syrup has the only syrup in a microwavable bottle with an easy-pour cap? I always remember Mom bought Hungry Jack syrup because she could microwave it right in the container. Nothing beats warm syrup on my breakfasts! My Mom is a genius isn’t she? She knew with an easy pour cap, Hungry Jack syrup ensures your breakFEAST will be mess-free and I know all you Mom’s out there know this is a must in life! Sticky messes are not fun and we know those kiddos love to be able to help themselves!

Another amazing option for your breakFEAST are these delicious Loaded Egg Bacon Cheese Waffles! They are the perfect combo of sweet and savory for a twist on your breakfast.

Have you seen this griddle from Oster? It works like a dream! I let the bacon sizzle on my griddle while I scrambled some eggs for my Loaded Egg Bacon Cheese Waffles!

I’ve been on the market for a new waffle maker for a while, but never bought one because there are so many out there. I wanted one that cooked efficiently and made waffles that were perfectly crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. If you are dreaming of waffle perfection make sure you get one of these Oster Waffle Makers! I wish I would have purchased one years ago!

I love Christmas treats. I love making them, I love eating them and I love sharing them. They are just fun all around! I spied these cuties on Pinterest. If you haven’t explored the wonderful world of Pinterest you are missing out and you NEED to go there now.
These are so adorable and so easy. I was intimidated by the looks of them and thought the would be a little bit time consuming but they really weren’t at all. Totally worth the time because they are so cute!

Snowman Cookies ~ Nutter Butter Cookies Dressed up as Cute Little Snowman for your Holiday Cookies!I had a little help from my niece Hallie on these and it’s a fun activity for kids. She was in charge of the M&M decorating. I love sharing these memories with her. She did look at me half way through our Christmas treat day and inform me, “You know Julie you will have a little munchkin running around next year. How will we do this?” We decided we’d make Daddy take care of the munchkin and still have girls day!

  • 1 package White Almond Bark
  • 1 package mini chocolate chips
  • Mini M&M’s
  • Orange Tic Tacs

Instructions

  1. Melt almond bark in double boiler. If you don’t have a double boiler you can microwave it. I find that melting it in the double boiler allows me more time to dip before it hardens again.
  2. Dip Nutter Butter Cookies in the almond bark and lay on wax paper. Dip all the cookies. Then put the M&M’s on the cookies with the “M” face down for the buttons. Put one tic tac on the cookie for the nose. Add the mini chocolate chips for the mouth and eyes.
  3. Store in airtight container or freeze.

Hey everyone! It’s me again with my Stitch Fix Review December 2016! This is the fourth fix that I have received that was mainly maternity. Each month sucks a bit more to model clothes, but I’m reminding myself that I’m growing a healthy baby and to focus on that! Let me know your thoughts and of course feel free to ask any additional questions that I haven’t answered about Stitch Fix!

This will be my last Fix of my pregnancy! That means due date is creeping up! YAY!

WHAT IS STITCH FIX?

  • Fill out a style profile, where you specify your sizes, price range, shapes, styles and if you prefer colors or patterns
  • Pay a $20 “Styling Fee” upfront when you schedule a fix
  • If you keep anything in your “Fix” the “Styling Fee” is deducted from your total
  • Either set a schedule for your fixes or schedule a fix when the moment strikes
  • Receive 25% discount if you keep all 5 items in your fix
  • You have three days to decide what to keep once you receive your fix
  • To return any unwanted items in your fix you simply place them in the pre-paid mailing envelope they provide and mail them back
  • Receive a $25 credit each time you refer someone to Stitch Fix

  3. Let your stylist know of any upcoming events you need attire for!
  4. Communicate with your Stylist! Let them know exactly what your dislike/like about your fixes!

LE LIS Savine Mixed Print Maternity Top $54.00

Maternity Stitch Fix Review December 2016 ~ Personalized Stylists Pick Out a Selection of Five Clothing Items or Accessories and Ship it to Your Doorstep!

I would have never picked this shirt in a million years, but when I got it on it kept growing on me! I’m not a big floral person, but now I’m second guessing that thought! I wanted to keep it but I noticed it kept riding up in the back and it was driving me nuts after having it on for ten minutes, so I knew I had to send it back because I would never be happy with it. Totally bummed!

LOVEAPPELLA Niva Maternity Dress $64.00

Maternity Stitch Fix Review December 2016 ~ Personalized Stylists Pick Out a Selection of Five Clothing Items or Accessories and Ship it to Your Doorstep!

I made a request for some dress options in this fix and they sent me two different options. I also would have never picked this dress to try on because it’s form fitting and I try to hide a lot, but I was pleasantly surprised! I ended up keeping this one and have already wore it a few different times!

RD STYLE Chantrey Cable Knit Sweater $78.00

Maternity Stitch Fix Review December 2016 ~ Personalized Stylists Pick Out a Selection of Five Clothing Items or Accessories and Ship it to Your Doorstep!

This is that comfy sweater that you dream of cuddling up in during the winter! It’s actually not maternity and the stylist just sized up for me so you can get it too! I was really hesitant on the color, but I am going to pair it either with these skinny jeans or black pants for work and I loved how comfortable it was!

LESLIE FRANCESCA Tim Druzy Drop Earrings $48.00

These earrings are cute, but I’m not big into gold and the price tag was steep so I ended up sending them back!

GILLI Monita 2fer Knit Lace Maternity Dress $68.00

Maternity Stitch Fix Review December 2016 ~ Personalized Stylists Pick Out a Selection of Five Clothing Items or Accessories and Ship it to Your Doorstep!

I went back and forth on this dress many times. I even asked for your help on Facebook! I knew it would have needed plain black nylons and different shoes for sure, but I still didn’t know if it was very flattering so I decided to send it back. I really wanted to make it work for a Christmas dress! Back to the drawing board there.

JULIE’S THOUGHTS:

This month I kept two things and the others were almost wins but they just didn’t work for several different reasons. This will be my last maternity fix as I’ve decided to quit for the time being as I’m getting the closer to the end of my pregnancy. Wahoo! Plus, I have started carrying clothing and accessories over at Drops of Sunshine so these “Fix” posts might take a change!

First things first! I’m giving away a $100 Credit or a Gift Package to my online boutique Drops of Sunshine so hurry over and enter here!

Since Thanksgiving is past and December is here I’ve been making my cookie making to-do list! Currently we have Peanut Butter Ritz Cookies, Rolo Peanut Butter Blossoms, Peanut Butter Cup Cookies, and Sweet Cherry Cookies. I thought I was done with my list until I remember my husband will freak if I don’t make Oreo Truffles and I definitely want some Goof Balls! I might throw in some Microwave Peanut Brittle for good measure!

Plus, I’ve FINALLY made it to thirty weeks in this pregnancy. It seems like weeks 20-30 took EONS. Seriously. I swear they went backwards, but now I’m hoping it starts going faster since we are on the downhill slope. Although, I know I can manage this baby right where it is and I’m slightly freaking out by the thought of actually having a third child and how I’m going to keep all my marbles, at least most of them!

Got any tips?

Using boxed ingredients, you will be rewarded with a soft, moist, and delicious cake (all the while allowing yourself to make that turkey in the oven with no worries!)

During the holidays stove and oven space become quite limited. I for one know my turkey will be taking up the majority of the oven room. I tend to make some recipes in advance (such as carrot dishes because they just taste better the next day anyway!) Then again, I have also come to really appreciate my slow cooker!

Food is on all our minds this holiday season, so why not free up the oven with this slow cooker cake recipe! Using boxed ingredients, you will be rewarded with a soft, moist, and delicious cake (all the while allowing yourself to make that turkey in the oven with no worries!)

Today’s slow cooker cake recipe is all about convenience. You are making it in the slow cooker, which frees up the stove and oven. It takes about 3 hours cooking time to complete, allowing for you to make it in advance or have it ready just after dinner finishes. Though, if you plan to ice the cake, you probably want to allow for cool time so the frosting doesn’t melt.

I did go a step further with the recipe. Red velvet screams Christmas, but I didn’t just want a red velvet boxed cake. I decided to melt some white chocolate and coconut oil together to put in between the batter as it cooked. As the cake cooked, the white chocolate seeped into the cake, creating an even moister cake (because no one likes dry cake!) You can totally skip this part, but I thought it added nice flavour 🙂

And last but not least, it is all up to you how you decide to decorate the cake! I sliced my cake first in the slow cooker, removed it, and then decorated each individual piece with frosting. I think you would be good icing the cake in the slow cooker, but the cake probably will not cool super fast sitting in that residual heat. More control if you decorated each little piece (and don’t worry, I did nothing fancy here: just a spoon and some container frosting.)

Slow Cooker Cake Recipe

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 3 hours

Serving Size: 10-12

Free up the oven and stove with this slow cooker cake recipe (which can be decorated however you see fit!)

Ingredients

  • 1 (465 g) box red velvet cake mix (I used Betty Crocker)
  • *Ingredients on the back of the box (eggs, oil, etc.)
  • Cream cheese frosting (you can use canned or my homemade recipe )
  • 1/2 lb white chocolate
  • 1 tbsp. coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Follow the directions on your box cake container (if your cake calls for water, sub in milk instead.)
  2. Pour half the batter into a 6-quart slow cooker. Melt chocolate and coconut oil together in the microwave until smooth. Pour over top of batter. Cover with remaining cake batter.
  3. Cover and cook on high heat for 3 1/2 - 4 hours. If not using the melted chocolate centre, reduce cook time to 3 hours. Cake is done when a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Allow to cool in the slow cooker. Slice and serve!

Notes

You can ice the cake in the slow cooker and then slice the cake, or slice the cake first, remove from slow cooker, and frost like I did.

I’m partnering with Annie’s to spread the word about their first ever Great Bunny Bake Off with a delicious recipe of my own!

When you look at a food blogger I’m sure you think we have it all together. We have our meals planned, exquisite recipes to make, our family enjoys homemade meals every night, big breakfasts are a regular on the weekend etc.

Easy Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread ~ Quick and Easy Monkey Bread Made with Cinnamon Rolls and Icing! Perfect Easy Breakfast Treat!

Well, I hate to break it to you, but it’s all a figment of your imagination! We are just like you, scrambling at the last minute, more often than we would like too, in order to get meals on the table and families fed. Typically on a day I’m tackling new recipes by the time dinner rolls around I’m exhausted and the last thing I want to do is make another meal for my family.

This feeling also happens after grocery shopping. By the time I get off work, tackle grocery shopping, arrive home, all I want to do is put a pizza in the oven. If I’m lucky and have my act together I think ahead and plan a slow cooker meal for that night. Let me tell you, that rarely happens!

Easy Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread ~ Quick and Easy Monkey Bread Made with Cinnamon Rolls and Icing! Perfect Easy Breakfast Treat!

Unfortunately, there have been many Christmas Eve’s that I suddenly look at my husband and gasp with dismay while proclaiming that I totally forgot about making a delicious Christmas Day breakfast. You would think that I’d have this down by now! He always smiles and reassures me that it’s totally fine and I haven’t failed to much yet. This is why I love that guy, well one of the many reasons!

It seems that by the time I get all the holiday plans organized, presents bought, presents wrapped, decorations up etc. I let some of the “details” slip by me. That’s why I’m always in need of a few recipes that “save” me in these moments that I drop the ball. Trust me, there are plenty of those moments!Easy Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread ~ Quick and Easy Monkey Bread Made with Cinnamon Rolls and Icing! Perfect Easy Breakfast Treat!

That’s why I love this Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread! It’s ridiculously easy and so delicious. It would be an amazing treat on Christmas morning or any morning you have guests over the holidays. It literally takes about 15 minutes and it’s in the oven. Bake it and then flip it onto a platter, drizzle with icing and it’s done!

Easy Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread ~ Quick and Easy Monkey Bread Made with Cinnamon Rolls and Icing! Perfect Easy Breakfast Treat!

Plus, it starts with Annie’s Organic Cinnamon Rolls which taste amazing and are perfect for when you need a quick treat in the morning! I dressed them up in this easy Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread, but they are delicious on their own too! Did you know Annie’s Organic Cinnamon Rolls are Certified Organic? Can I get a round of applause for that?

Not only are they Certified Organic, but they contain unbleached flour, no hydrogenated oils and no high-fructose corn syrup!

Now, if you are like me, you’d like to get your hands on everything Annie’s Homegrown has to offer! Luckily for you there’s a way to do it and it’s pretty simple, which I know I need! All you have to do is create and share Annie’s Baking Recipes on your Instagram.
