Sioux Falls, SD Family Vacation

This spring we took a little trip to Sioux Falls, SD for a Family Vacation! Check out what we did with the family!
Earlier this spring we decided it was time to get out of dodge and take a little three hour trip to see Jason’s sister and let the kiddos play in the pool. Miss K was SO excited about all of this. She adores her auntie and she would never turn down pool time! She’s our little fishy! Ry on the other hand could pass on the pool. Someday she’ll be keeping up with her sister too!
On the way to Sioux Falls we made a pit stop in Brookings, SD to play at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota. You guys, I was so incredibly impressed with this Children’s Museum. It’s just the right size with tons of things to do. The girls loved working on the car, acting like Dad and fixing it. Kinzee thought the grocery store set up was pretty awesome. What kid doesn’t enjoy play grocery store? The Splash part was probably the highlight. They got to splash in the water tables and try to get the balls to go up in the air. I think Dad loved this too!
There were so many different things to do. I highly recommend it if you are in the area! I’m sure we will be back! After playing for a while we made a stop for lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings in Brookings.
After lunch we hit the road again and arrived in Sioux Falls that afternoon. While in Sioux Falls we stayed at the Sioux Falls Ramada Inn mainly for their awesome water park. We got a family suite so we had a separate bedroom which was nice when Ry had to nap! This is a must for me when traveling. I will seek out a hotel with this set up.
The Buccaneer Bay Water Park inside the Ramada has so much for kids to do. Whether they are young or older there’s something for everyone. Miss K loved going down the slides, both big and little, and checking out the Pirate Ship. Mom thought the hot tub was the best part!
While at the hotel we made use of the Castaways Bar & Grill for both breakfast and dinners. I was highly impressed with their room service and we used this frequently finding that it was easier to dine in the room than fight with the kids in the restaurant! The only thing I would give you as a tip is pass on the breakfast buffet and order off the menu. The wait wasn’t long and the food was way better!
During the day we visited the Butterfly House & Marine Cove. I was really excited for this part of the vacation! Unfortunately, for the price I was a little disappointed. The marine cove portion is really cool, but small. Miss K freaked out in the butterfly house when a butterfly landed on her and we had a total melt down. You aren’t supposed to touch the butterflies and she was trying to swat. It was not a good moment in my life!
The highlight of this part of our trip was definitely the outdoor play area. It was AMAZING. My recommendation is skip the inside part and save yourself some money. Just go and play at the play area. It has three separate playgrounds, each one designed for a different age group. It was nice that my girls could play in the younger portion without battling the older kids. They could have stayed here all day! As you can see, Dad even got in the on the fun!
After we wore the girls out it was time to feed them. We dined at Johnny Carino’s and it was amazing!
Before traveling home we went to Falls Park. The girls loved to be able to run around and enjoy the amazing spring weather. We climbed the tower to get the birds eye view. There’s a cafe there and I would love to go back and try it out and see the park in the summertime!
If you are ever in the Sioux Falls area I hope this helps you decide what to do on your vacation!
