Craving some crispy chicken wings? These Air Fryer Chicken Wings are what you need! Drizzled with a little oil and seasoned they are finger licking good!

Air Fryer Chicken Wings
Craving chicken wings but don’t want to turn on the oven? No problem! Cooking them in an air fryer is so easy and fast. So, we’ve got juicy, crispy chicken wings in the air fryer comin’ atcha today!
I think the air fryer might be the best way to cook chicken wings. Obviously, deep-fried ones are delicious but all of that oil makes a mess and isn’t so healthy. The air fryer gets the skin just as crispy with a fraction of the oil. It’s one of my favorite air fryer recipes!
The chicken is coated in a super simple spice rub that take just minutes to prep. Once you get them in the air fryer they’re ready in less than 30 minutes! Serve them with ranch dip or another sauce that you love.
Make these for parties, for dinner, or whenever you’re craving crispy wings! You’re going to love how easy this recipe is. Don’t have an air fryer? Try my baked chicken wings instead!
Airfryer Chicken Wings Ingredients
You will need two pounds of chicken for this recipe. I usually buy a party pack of wings. Then you don’t have to cut off the wing tips yourself.

For the spice rub, you will need:
- Sea Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic Powder
- Smoked Paprika
- Chili Powder
- Onion Powder
Just mix it all up in a bowl. That’s it!
How to Cook Chicken Wings in the Air Fryer
- Mix up your spice rub and then place the chicken in a large resealable bag. Add the oil and turn the bag to coat the wings.
- Add the spice rub and turn the bag again to coat everything evenly.
- Place the seasoned wings in the air fryer basket in an even layer. Cook them for 10 minutes at 360 degrees F. Turn them over and cook them for 10 minutes more.
- Adjust the air fryer temperature to 390 degrees F and cook the chicken for six minutes longer or until it’s cooked through.

How Long Do You Air Fry Chicken Wings?
I cook them until the internal temperature is 185 to 190 degrees F. Technically, chicken is done at 165 degrees but with wings, I find that you don’t get those red spots near the bone when you cook them a little longer. They are juicy and perfectly cooked.
Air Fryer Chicken Wings Recipe FAQs
You can but you will need to increase the cooking time by at least five to ten minutes. Always check the temperature – they should be cooked to at least 165 degrees.
I prefer thawed or fresh chicken for this recipe because it’s easier to coat in the oil and seasonings.
You definitely don’t want to stack the chicken wings when you cook them in an air fryer!
The air fryer works by blowing hot air all around the food while it’s cooking – that’s what creates that delicious crispy skin.
If you stack the wings, you will cover up the skin and they won’t cook evenly and they won’t crisp up.
They are healthier than deep-fried ones! You only need a small amount of oil to cook them in the air fryer, so the calories and fat are a lot lower.
What can I serve with chicken wings?
- If you serve them as an appetizer or snack add your favorite dipping sauce like BBQ sauce, blue cheese dip or ranch dip!
- When we have parties we love to serve them with other appetizers like chips with guacamole and salsa, jalapeno popper dip, or dill dip with a platter of veggies.
- Sometimes I make these for dinner with potato salad, macaroni salad, or garlic butter noodles on the side!

I hope you love these easy air fryer chicken wings as much as we do! They always come out so juicy with the most delicious crispy skin – you’re going to want to give these a try soon!

Great recipe! The wings we get from Sam’s Club are pretty big and meaty, so they need extra time and temperature in my air fryer. I find 12 min at 375, flip…another 12 min at 375, flip again…and another 10-12 min at 400 will cook about 30 pieces perfectly on two racks. (If we’re cooking them, we’re filling the air fryer!)

So glad you could make it work!

I want to buy a air fryer but do not know which one to go for.
Julie Evink says
Cosori is a great brand of Air Fryer that isn’t to expensive!
Melissa says
I want to make these but I do not have an air fryer. Can they be made in a convection oven on a rack that is several inches off the cookie sheet so the heat gets completely around them?
Michelle Sperr says
Hi Melissa. I haven’t tried that before but you certainly could. Let me know how it turns out.
Clancy says
I made these in my convection oven and they came out moist with a good crunch. Followed Julie’s recipe as written and they taste like they were fried. Same time and temp for convection no tray. Put them on the rack closest to the motor and you’ll get that nice chicken wing crunch. I did flip at the halfway mark.
Julie Evink says
So glad you enjoyed them Clancy!!
Aimee says
The wings were great but damn it took forever to cook 20ish wings in 3 batches. 🤦🏼♀️ There’s got to be a way to maybe bake? Them and then air fry to crisp. Or maybe I’ll just allow for extra time next time, I’m impatient.
Diane says
These were perfect! This is the only wing recipe I use now! I double the amount of seasoning when I make them.
Michelle Sperr says
I’m so glad that you liked these Diane! Thank you so much for sharing your comment!
Diane says
My husband liked the flavors & crispiness but said that the meat was tough. Do you think that this is from overcooking?
Julie says
That could be! If the wings weren’t super meaty they could have gotten a tad overcooked.
Lali says
OMG!!! THIS IS OUR GO TO RECIPE FROM NOW ON !! MY SON LOVED THEM !!! If you want a little more zing, I warmed Franks Red Hot sauce: 1/2 cup and 1/4 of a stick of butter in a sauce pan – dipped and served. THANKS FOR SHARING ! 😉
Julie says
I’m so glad they were a hit, Lali! Thanks for the review!
Nancy J Titus says
My wings are not getting crispy enough!
Julie says
Did you pat the wings dry before adding the seasonings?
Michael says
You have to pat them dry. I take the time to sprinkle them with course salt and sit in the fridge then pate then dry.
This recipe is spot on!
Julie Evink says
Yes that is key! So glad you enjoyed them Michael!
Erica says
They are amazing and come out very crispy. Me and my husband love them.
Julie says
Perfect! I’m so glad you enjoy this one!

Hi Julie. I got an air fryer for Christmas and am looking forward to making your chicken wing recipe. I’m a little confused, though. At the top part of the recipe it says the cook time is 16 minutes, but in Step 6 of the Instructions it looks like the cook time is 26 minutes. Please le me know which total time is correct. I can’t wait to eat them! Thank you.
Julie Evink says
I simply added wrong when I was inputting the top portion. It’s fixed.

Yummy! I love that making them in the air fryer makes cooking wings way less messier in the kitchen. I love how they turned out so crispy too.

Yes! They are crispy and delicious, so glad you enjoyed them!
