It’s that time of year where I want all the comfort food. Warm, hearty and comforting is where my heart is right now. Some of my go to recipes when I’m craving comfort food are Cabbage and Noodles, Hamburger Stroganoff, Crock Pot Lasagna, and Cheesy Italian Pasta and Meatballs!
What more can you ask for when the wind is blowing, the snow is falling and it’s bitter cold out? Snow Days call for hearty meals like Chicken Cordon Bleu Skillet Noodles!
Good thing my family loves comfort food too! I typically pair my comfort food with a veggie to balance it all out! Did you know my girls love lettuce? I’m always so surprised when they sit down and start snitching lettuce off my plate. Rylin’s new thing is to grab my container of cherry tomatoes, carry them over to the couch and sit there and eat the entire container.
Who’s child is this? I love cherry tomatoes too, but so weird. So weird. Let’s just say I have doubled my buying of cherry tomatoes to keep up with her intake!
Speaking of the girl’s favorite things. Their new found love is ice fishing. They adore going out to the fish house with Dad and hanging out all day. Now, it’s not because the fish are coming in as fast as they put their hooks down. In fact, quite the opposite. My husband struggles to find the fish that bite!
I’m not sure if they love the fact they can watch all the movies they want, eat all the pizza and treats they want or what it is! Whatever it is I go with it. I’m at home snuggling their brother and making treats for when they get home!
In fact, they love it so much their Dad just talked me into buying a new fish house for them to enjoy. Staying overnight is now on their agenda. They kept begging to do it in the old fish house, but it wasn’t built to stay warm like the new ones so they couldn’t. They are SUPER excited to try out this new one!
When they come home from ice fishing I’m always sure to welcome them with a delicious hearty, homemade meal like Chicken Cordon Bleu Skillet Noodles.
You know what? This new ice house has a stove in it! That means I could make this recipe right in the fish house. Now we are talking. Can you imagine…. a blustery day, warm fish house, family time and this amazing Chicken Cordon Bleu Skillet Noodles?
Now that sounds like perfection! I think I’d bring my favorite book along in case the fish weren’t biting!
This Chicken Cordon Bleu Skillet Noodles is made with my favorite Reames Frozen Egg Noodles. They are made with 3 simple ingredients: Eggs, Flour, Water—just like how you’d make them from scratch but they did all the work for you! Gotta love that! Because of this they have the taste, texture and simple ingredients equivalent to homemade noodles. Way better than dry noodles with less work! Freezing these egg noodles allows Reames to only use eggs, flour and water when they make their noodles!
What recipe do you look forward to on snow days in the winter?
