3 Ingredients!
If you are a beginner cook you can make this too, or if you just want to keep things easy this is the recipe for you!
- Spiral Ham – Any ham will work!
- Pineapple – We use tidbits, but you can use crushed also.
- Brown Sugar – You could also substitute honey if you’d like.
Steps to Prepare Crock Pot Pineapple Ham!
You basically dump the ingredients in your slow cooker and let it do its magic. Cooking it in the slow cooker makes the meat moister and more flavorful because it cooked longer.
- Prep – Layer 1 c. brown sugar on bottom of crock pot. Place ham on top of brown sugar and pour pineapple over the top. Sprinkle with remaining brown sugar and place cover on top.
- Cook – Turn crock pot on low for 2-3 hours or high 1-2 hours.
Expert Tips!
- Any ham will work for this recipe, but we like the spiral ham so the juices can get right into the ham to give it so much flavor. If you use a bone-in ham you could score it for the same effect.
- When you pour the pineapple on top, pull the slices apart so it can get into the ham giving it so much flavor.
- Make sure to use a 6-8 quart crock pot because this is a large cut of ham.
- If you use a 6 quart crock pot we recommend trying to find a ham on the smaller side like 6-8 lbs because it will be a tight fight.
- You can substitute the canned pineapple with fresh pineapple if you’d like.
- If you’d like to brown the ham more after cooking it in the slow cooker, place it in in a baking pan and broil for 5-10 minutes in oven.
- You will need about 3/4 lb of bone-in ham per person that you are serving. I always round up to 1 lb of ham per person to be on the safe side, remember to adjust if you have a lot of kids, they typically eat less. Plus, I love leftover ham to make ham salad and our favorite Ham & Penne Pasta!
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 3-4 days.
- To reheat slices of ham, place on pan, cover with foil and warm it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Hi Julie this is my first time making a ham in a crock pot. I couldn’t find a bone in spiral ham so I ended up buying a boneless spiral ham. Will the recipe still work for a boneless spiral ham?
Julie Evink says
Yes it should be fine!
Rachel M says
I made this and everyone was absolutely delighted! So easy and so good! Thank you!!!!
Julie Evink says
So glad you enjoyed it!
Megan says
What brand of ham did you use? Also, was your ham precooked? I want to make this for a potluck. Did you have to turn it during the 8hrs. Thanks!
Julie Evink says
My ham was precooked and I did not flip it over. I’m not sure what brand I used!
Kathy says
Will try this during week and adding some allspice, mustard and cloves with the brown sugar! Love when the meat just falls apart after cooked. Thanks for recipe.
Julie Evink says
Sounds like great adaptions! Enjoy!
Julie says
It seems a bit greasy and is watery hasn’t caramelized yet and only one hour left to go
Julie says
Is this normal?
Julie Evink says
How did it turn out? The amount of water in your ham will alter the results also.
Jackie says
I just made this last night and it was amazing!! It fell apart when I cut it! I left it on low for 12 hours!!! Great recipe!
Julie Evink says
So glad you enjoyed it Jackie!
joy says
do you put ham face up or down on the brown sugar? Thank you.
Julie Evink says
Face up!
BLewis says
My daughter cooked a spiral ham in her crock pot and, after cooking, there was a ton of water in the bottom. She had to drain in before putting on her glaze. Did you have this problem because you’d obviously drain off the brown sugar/pineapple juice then?
Julie Evink says
I didn’t seem to have this problem! It could be the type/brand of ham too!
keri says
You don’t have to put water in the crockpot??
Julie Evink says
No but make sure not to drain the juice from the pineapple!
Dana Ankenbauer says
I found your recipe searching for ways to prepare ham in a Crock Pot, because I wanted to fix it for Christmas dinner and needed the oven free for the many side dishes. It was so easy, and delicious! I was also surprised that I liked eating the pineapple chunks with it, because I don’t typically like warm fruit.
I believe my ham was about 3 lbs, pre-cooked, and I left it in the Crock Pot on low for about 7 hours. I’m sure it would have been fine with even less time since it was pre-cooked.
Julie Evink says
I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed it Dana!
Mary Schulze says
Sounds delicious! Do you put in all the juice from the pineapple?
Julie Evink says
Yes!
LB says
How many people does this serve?
Julie Evink says
I would say 6-8.
gwen says
Can you do just butter and brown sugar
lynda benge says
Having this Saturday. Looks so good. Can’t believe you don’t add any liquid other than the juice.
Julie Evink says
Nope just the pineapple juice in the can! Hope you enjoyed it!
kim says
Can I prep the night before?
Karla Brown says
What size ham do you use? Thanks
Julie Evink says
Mine was around 8 lbs.
