If you are hosting the holidays and running out of kitchen space this delicious Crock Pot Creamed Corn is the perfect solution! This creamy side dish is super easy and I love that it’s cooked in my slow cooker and doesn’t take up any oven space. Plus, it has a secret ingredient. Cheese! Everything is always better with cheese. I’m always asked to bring this easy, classic creamed corn to the holidays.
Do you have a go-to side dish that you become known for? This Crock Pot Creamed Cheese recipe is mine. I started making it right after we got married and since then it’s always requested during the holidays!
It’s good all the good stuff like whipping cream and cheese. Plus, it’s made in your slow cooker so it’s pretty much hands off, easily transportable and you can make it ahead of time and just turn the crock pot on and let it cook.
That is perfect for the holidays when you have last minute details to pull together if you are entertaining, or if you need to go to church and won’t be home and just because you like easy and simple.
Why this recipe works:
- Makes a large quantity which is perfect for the holidays.
- Cooks in your crock pot so it frees up that stove top and oven space for other recipes like roast turkey and gravy!
- Easily transportable if you are visiting friends and family. Simply grab your slow cooker and bring it with.
But, wait you don’t just need to save this for the holidays!
We actually like to enjoy this creamed corn whenever we are having people over or when we are having a “nice dinner” ?
The nice thing about this creamed corn recipe it’s perfect all year long! Winter… with Instant Pot Ribs you bet! Grilling up some pork chops and THIS is the perfect side dish!
No slow cooker? You should try my stovetop creamed corn! It’s just as delicious and easy to make.
Only 6 Ingredients Needed
- Frozen corn
- Cream cheese
- Cheddar cheese
- Butter
- Heavy whipping cream
- Salt and pepper
2 Steps to Prepare
- Combine all of the ingredients in the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on low 3-4 hours or until warmed through and cheese is melted. Stir before serving.
Variation Ideas
- I think everything’s better with cheese, but you could also skip the cheese for a more traditional creamed corn recipe.
- Change the cheese up. I love a traditional cheddar cheese but you could use sharp cheddar or Parmesan cheese. Make sure to grab the block of cheese and shred it yourself for best results.
- Add some seasoning to mix up the flavor like cajun for a kick.
Stovetop Directions
This is stovetop friendly too if you’d like to use that method to prepare it.
Combine all ingredients in a large saucep
an. Heat over medium-high heat until the butter and cream cheese have melted, making sure to stir it frequently.
Once it’s heated through serve.

Does the 2 represent the two bags or two of each bag?
Julie Evink says
No, one of each size.
Rosey says
This is THE BEST! My family renamed it to Cardiac Corn because of all of the yummy goodness. I made this recipe multiple times this summer!
Julie Evink says
Haha everything in moderation right?? 🙂
Kathy says
can this be made a day ahead and reheated
Julie Evink says
Yes it’s great as leftovers so this would be fine!
Kristi says
Nice Twist with the Cheddar cheese. We just do cream cheese milk or heavy cream and butter, salt and pepper, garlic and a little sugar.
Julie Evink says
Thanks Kristi!

Hey Julie!! I’m thinking about trying this recipe out for new years eve as a side dish but i’m a little confused as to what kind of heavy wipping cream it is?
Julie Evink says
You’ll find Heavy Whipping Cream in the dairy section by the half and half usually with a purple label!
Jenna says
This has become my go-to potluck contribution. I’ve re-named it “Crack Corn”… it’s that addicting! My twist -I add cajun spices (cayenne pepper, a little cumin… I’ve also added Old Bay before), and guests cannot get enough. Thank you!
Cat says
Hey Julie, do you think this recipe could be done with Velveeta cheese in place of the shredded cheddar? I made this on Sunday and it was excellent, and I was just wondering if Velveeta could be substituted for a smoother cheesiness 🙂 I’m making it tonight for a work potluck tomorrow so I wanted to explore my options. What do you think?
Julie Evink says
I would think it would work. My only thought is it might get a little runny. I can’t tell you for sure as I’ve never tried it like that. Let me know if you do!
Andrea says
could I use canned corn instead of frozen?
Julie Evink says
Yes you can sub canned corn I just prefer frozen. Watch the cooking time though it might take a little less time.
Mandy says
How many people does this serve? We’re having a Thanksgiving potluck at work and I’m wondering if I double your recipe if it’ll be enough for about 50 people. Also, if I double it do you think it’ll still be ready in 3-4 hours?
Julie Evink says
I would say 10-12 people and I would increase the cooking time a little and use a large crock pot and you might have to triple the recipe.
elena Lara says
Can I use just milk instead of CREAM CHEESE?
Julie Evink says
The cream cheese is going to make it a thicker more robust creamed corn. You can try milk but watch so it doesn’t get runny. I’ve never tried this substitute.
Julie Evink says
Hey Michael! Did it turn out for you?
michael says
Yes it did! Thank you!! Im going to fix it for Christmas dinner party too if I double the recipe will it feed 13 people? or do I need to triple it??
Please let me know Thank you
michael
Julie Evink says
I think you would be fine doubling it!
Peggy says
Hi again,
Please send me an email for your response, obviously I am somewhat new to this.
Thank you for your time.

Hi Julie
Does it have to be frozen corn? I want to make it for Mother’s Day, I’m not worried about doing it “quick” and was thinking of fresh corn from the cob.
What do you think?
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Peggy Rizzo
Julie Evink says
I can’t guarantee using the fresh corn because I haven’t used it, but if you do try it just watch the cooking time!

Always the baby when you need excuse right? 🙂
Chelsea @chelseasmessyapron says
I love creamed corn! And love how simplified you’ve made this – crockpot recipes are the best! Also, just got that plate at Target and love it! Pinned 🙂
Julie Evink says
You have great taste 🙂
Emily says
If I double this receipe for thanksgiving should I double the cooking time too!!
Julie Evink says
Use a big enough slow cooker that the heat is able to distribute evenly, but I think it should only take the 4 hours on there. At the most it will take 5 hours.
Sharon Lurie says
I doubled the recipe and it still cooked thoroughly within the 3-4 time frame.
Julie Evink says
Thanks for the feedback Sharon!
