Crock Pot Hot Ham and Cheese
These delicious Crock Pot Hot Ham & Cheese Sandwiches are so easy and delicious! The ham is smothered in a homemade cheese sauce and slow cooked in your slow cooker for a few hours. Simply pile it on a bun and you have an easy meal!
With the house project going on I’m always looking for super simple ideas to provide a lunch on Saturday while we have people out there helping us. My lovely sis-in-law served this last summer at the lake and I knew it was going to come in handy sometime. This was the time!
A few of my other favorite easy lunch ideas are Deviled Egg Salad Sandwich, Barbecues, Crock Pot Smokey BBQ Shredded Chicken Sandwiches, and Ham Cheese & Poppy Seed Sandwiches!

The BEST Hot Ham Cheese Sandwiches!
You just buy pre-cut ham or take a ham to your deli and have them cut it for you. Obviously whichever is cheaper is the way to go in my book! Then mix up the cheese sauce, throw it in the crock-pot and you are ready to rock in roll. Love these kinds of “meals” don’t you? I almost feel guilty serving them!
It seems if they taste delicious no one really asks if they were hard to make. I often times find out people think I make five course meals all the time because I’m a food blogger. You guys, not happening. I feed my family leftovers and super simple meals the majority of the time.
That’s why you see those recipes here. Rarely, if ever do you see something that has 29 ingredients and 68 steps to it. I don’t have time for that and I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you don’t either!
You are here because you need simple recipes that will have people fooled about how much time they took just like these delicious Crock Pot Hot Ham Cheese Sandwiches!

Ingredients Needed to Make Crock Pot Hot Ham and Cheese
- Ham
- Butter
- Velveeta
- Evaporated milk
- Flour
- Buns
How to Make Crock Pot Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches
You are going to love how easy this crock pot recipe is!
Grab a sauce pan and melt the butter, Velveeta and evaporated milk. Stir until it is mixed.
Add the flour and whisk until combined and smooth.
Next, grab your crock pot and layer your ham into the crock pot. I usually make about 3 layers and pour a 1/3 of the cheese mixture on top of each layer of ham, ending with the cheese sauce on top.
Then heat your crock pot on low for about 3-4 hours or until hot and bubbly.
Each crock pot heats differently so be aware of that!

At the bottom of each blog post there is a recipe card that contains all the amounts and instructions.

Can I replace regular cheddar cheese and melt that down instead of Velveeta?
Julie says
Yes! The texture might be a tad different than the Velveeta but you can certainly swap it out – let me know how it turns out!

Julie this was soooooo stinking Good!
I used a little over 2 lbs. of fresh Honey Ham that was sliced at “0”. I used the Mexican Velveeta, since I wanted to add seasoning anyways. (This in no way tasted like Mexican seasoned when done). I didn’t use the full 2 Tbsp of flour and went on to thin the sauce more with the Evaporated milk to keep smooth. I was on s time crunch so I started the Crockpot at high for 30 mins. Then down to Low for about 2 hrs. Served on Brioche Buns with Oven Fries. We were in Heaven & ate more then we needed. Still thinking about them days later; which is very rare for me.
Thank You so much for sharing, I can’t wait make again!

I’ve had this in a crockpot dozens of times, but recently got an Instant Pot. Any tips or ideas how to use that for this recipe?
Julie Evink says
Ooooo no I’ve never thought to try it in an IP. Wondering if it would come to pressure because there isn’t a lot of liquid. I’ll have to try it!

What a classic, yummy recipe! I haven’t had Velveeta cheese in years, but my mom used to buy it all the time. I kind of miss the stuff!
