French Fry Hot Dish ~ Classic hot dish piled with hamburger, corn, cheese and french fries for days when you need comfort food!
You know those days when all you want is Grandma’s cooking. Comfort food that is just needed some days.
Especially when fall comes and the mornings are crisp and the evenings turn to hooded sweatshirt weather. You know that comfy weather? I love it. I’m also currently begging for it. Holy hotness in Minnesota Batman.
Excessive heat warnings and it’s almost September. Yup. Fall you can come at anytime now. I’d welcome you with open arms and I’m pretty sure my hubby, who sweats his butt off during work everyday, is saying NOW.
This Hot Dish, yes not casserole, is passed down from my Grandma. It’s plain, it’s simple, but sometimes that’s the type of food you want. Oh and who else is from the Midwest and uses Hot Dish instead of Casserole? I’m always hesitant to name my recipes this, but this is Grandma’s recipe so I thought it was fitting!
Miss K gobbled this up, we happened to have the TV on and Wheel of Fortune was playing, she start clapping every time they clapped and it was just so fitting. You see Great Grandma’s favorite show was The Wheel and no one interrupted that show! I’m sure she was smiling down on Miss K.

Hi I just wanted to let you know I made this last night and my family loved it. Many people comment on how the dish looks but I would prefer to have them comment when they have made the dish. It looked good and tasted very good. Thank you

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’ve actually stopped promoting it because people hate the pictures but sometimes it’s just hard to make a food “pretty”!
Shannon says
Are the fries frozen? Raw? Already fried?
Julie Evink says
Frozen!
Joyce says
Are the fries frozen and pre- cooked or made from raw potatoes? Thanks, Joyce
Michelle Sperr says
Hi Joyce – I use a bag of frozen french fries and put them right on top before I bake the dish! Hope this helps and you love this recipe.

Hi! I’m not much of a cook but this looks great. Hope this is not a silly question but are the french fries fried first or do you just bung them in the oven unfried?
Thanks.

I just found this on Pinterest and it looks sinfully good! My husbands grammy loves Wheel of Fortune and never misses it so when she went to visit my in-laws in So Cal, they took her to a taping of it…she was thrilled!

So glad you found me! I would think I died and went to heaven if I could see a taping!

This looks and sounds delicious! We love Wheel of Fortune, too! This looks like the best kind of comfort food. French fries are the best! Pinning, of course! 🙂

Glad we aren’t the only ones that love the Wheel! I feel like I should be in a nursing home when I admit I watch it avidly!

Oh my gosh, I totally love The Wheel! I make my husband ‘pause’ the channel for me every night so that I can watch it after dinner! This is a very cool ‘hot dish’! {love that name!} I’m going to have to try it sometime!

Haha that’s awesome!! I would totally be that person too 🙂
