Satisfy your craving for crispy, savory fries with this simple garlic parmesan fries recipe. These homemade fries are easy to make and bursting with flavor, making them the perfect snack or side dish.

French fries are my weakness. Seriously, how can anyone say no to hot, crispy, salty potatoes? That makes no sense to me! And when it comes to these garlic parmesan french fries, I don’t think even the strongest person would be able to resist. They are truly one of my favorite creations and the flavor combination is out of this world.
I’m pretty used to making air fryer french fries whenever burgers are on the dinner menu. But these garlic parmesan fries are one of those easy side dishes that feel like an extra special treat. The best part, they’re baked in the oven — so everyone can make them! There’s no special equipment required. Just your basic kitchen tools and a little bit of patience. Before you know it, you’ll have the best french fries ready to serve.
Why You’ll Love Garlic Parmesan French Fries
- These parmesan garlic fries are actually a healthier option! They’re oven baked, not deep fried, making them lower in fat.
- Make this recipe from fresh potatoes. There’s no additives or fillers in these french fries! Just real, tasty ingredients.
- Oven baked garlic parmesan fries have an incredible flavor. There may not be any leftovers to store because they’ll be eaten so fast!
Ingredients for Garlic Parmesan French Fries
- Potatoes – I prefer using yukon gold potatoes in this recipe! But you can use some russet potatoes if you want.
- Parmesan cheese – For the most fresh flavor, grate your own parmesan cheese. Freshly grated is so great on these fries!
- Olive oil – To get crispy fries in the oven, you’ll need some oil. Don’t have olive oil? You can use avocado oil or vegetable oil in its place.
- Garlic powder – Give these fries the best garlicky flavor with some garlic powder.
- Salt and black pepper – Potatoes always need salt, but the addition of black pepper adds more depth of flavor and a little bit of warmth! So tasty!
How to Make Garlic Parmesan French Fries
- Clean the potatoes well, and then slice them into fries using a chef’s knife. Make french fries that are about 1/3 inch thick. I left the skin on, but you can peel if you prefer.
- Place the chopped potatoes in a large bowl and submerge them in cold water. Soak for at least 20 minutes, then drain off the water and pat dry.
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease 2 small-medium baking sheets, or one extra large baking sheet.
- Place the fries into a separate, large bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle them with parmesan cheese, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper and toss to coat.
- Transfer fries to the baking sheet, leaving space between the pieces.
- Bake the garlic parmesan fries in the preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. Flip and bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
- Allow the fries to rest for 2 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
How to Store Leftover French Fries
Allow leftover french fries to cool completely and then transfer to an airtight container.
FRIDGE: Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
FREEZER: Leftover garlic parmesan french fries can also be frozen! Store in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months.
How to Reheat Garlic Parmesan Fries
For best results, place leftover fries back into a preheated oven! The parmesan may melt a bit, so you can sprinkle some fresh parmesan on the reheated fries before serving.
Can I make these garlic parmesan fries in the air fryer?
This recipe would work great in the air fryer! To turn this into an air fryer recipe, follow the first few steps to prep the potatoes as the instructions call for. Then just preheat the air fryer and spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.
Add the fries in a single layer, then air fry at about 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes until crispy and cooked through! Toss in parmesan and enjoy!
What to Serve with Garlic Parmesan French Fries
Serve these garlic parmesan french fries with any and every dipping sauce that you enjoy! Garlic aioli would be delicious, but so would burger sauce, ketchup and even ranch dressing dip.
And, of course, you can serve these homemade garlic parmesan fries with some burger or even crispy chicken wings. They’re great with buffalo chicken sliders and air fryer fried chicken too!
Pro Tips for the Best Garlic Parmesan Fries
- Make sure you chop the potatoes into evenly sized sticks so that they all finish cooking at the same time!
- It is important to dry the potatoes well before seasoning them. If they’re still wet, the seasonings won’t stick.
- Don’t overload the baking sheet! The french fries need to be spread out in an even layer, with space between them, so that they bake evenly.
Enjoy these tasty french fries and don’t forget the dipping sauce! You’ll think you’re dining at a restaurant, they’re so good!
