Pressure Cooker Swedish Meatballs
Our family LOVES Swedish Meatballs and I typically make them in my Crock Pot, but I decided it was time to convert that recipe to my favorite pressure cooker so I could make them quickly when I didn’t plan ahead!
Like that ever happens, right?!
My mom passed this original recipe down to me and it’s become one of our favorite meals. One of my kids likes the meatballs, one kid likes the noodles and one kid isn’t picky. I love it when a meal has everything to please everyone.
I just throw some peas or a side salad with the Swedish Meatballs and it’s a quick and easy meal and I usually have everything on hand. I always try to keep a bag of frozen meatballs in the freezer for crazy nights when I just don’t know what else to make.

This meatball recipe was the first recipe we tried in our 8-qt. Instant Pot. From preheating to completion, it took 40 minutes. It turned out okay, but was a little bland and colorless. We substituted another can of cream of mushroom soup for the golden mushroom and added about 1c. leeks, but otherwise followed the recipe. We’ll have to play around with jazzing it up if we decide to make it again. The good news is it got gobbled up at a potluck.
P.S. Misty: In the 8-qt. Pot, this was about 2/3 full. I wouldn’t try doubling the recipe and I wonder how full the recipe as is gets in a smaller pot!
Julie Evink says
The cream of mushroom soup does not have as much flavor in it as the golden mushroom so that could be the reason you didn’t think it had enough flavor since you did change the recipe.
Misty says
Would I be able to double this recipe in my 6-quart instant pot
Lynn says
Making this tonight for my guys (Hubby and dad) since they are both sweedish meatball fans. I will find something else for myself as I’m a keto gal, but the photos and the description sound amazing. Hopefully there will be no “burn” notice for me.
Julie Evink says
Hopefully everything went well!
Lauren says
Has anyone had issues with the instant pot saying “burn?” This is the first meal I’ve cooked where it has said that :(.
Julie Evink says
Hey Lauren, I’ve found this article helpful to why you might be getting that error message! https://www.pressurecookrecipes.com/instant-pot-burn/
Paula says
Can I use Beef Consumme instead of beef broth?
Julie Evink says
Your beef consumme is going to have a stronger taste then the broth. I might do half of that and half water if you use that unless you want that strong flavor!
Paula says
Thank you Julie. I used it before you had a chance to respond. I was thinking that the strong flavor would be a good idea. It wasn’t bad but I think I will skip it for the next batch. I made it at work and my co-workers loved it but I think I would prefer to use beef broth next time. Live and learn right?! 🙂
Julie Evink says
Right! At least it was still edible 😉
Susan R. says
My brown gravy mix envelope says 0.87 oz. Is this the correct amount?
Julie Evink says
Yes sorry that’s correct!
Leslee Strange says
3 cups of noodles measured dry?
Julie Evink says
