Pressure Cooker Swedish Meatballs
Our family LOVES Swedish Meatballs and I typically make them in my Crock Pot, but I decided it was time to convert that recipe to my favorite pressure cooker so I could make them quickly when I didn’t plan ahead!
Like that ever happens, right?!
My mom passed this original recipe down to me and it’s become one of our favorite meals. One of my kids likes the meatballs, one kid likes the noodles and one kid isn’t picky. I love it when a meal has everything to please everyone.
I just throw some peas or a side salad with the Swedish Meatballs and it’s a quick and easy meal and I usually have everything on hand. I always try to keep a bag of frozen meatballs in the freezer for crazy nights when I just don’t know what else to make.
What is special about Swedish meatballs?
THAT is a great question! IKEA is an affordable furniture, kitchen appliance store. Almost every college kid’s dorm is outfitted from IKEA. They carry everything from desks to glassware and oh by the way… a cafeteria where they are famous for their … Swedish Meatballs!
If you have never ate at IKEA, do that next time you visit! It’s affordable and delicious!

This looks delicious! I plan to use ready made uncooked meatballs. Should I cook the meatballs first before before adding it with all the ingredients?
Julie says
You shouldn’t have to, they should cook all the way through in the instant pot.
Merle Myrick says
It turned out wonderful only problem I had that the meatballs were frozen and it took longer
Julie says
Glad to hear it still turned out great!
Kathy Osborne says
Quick question what is golden cream of mushroom soup I have never heard of it before. Is there something I could use in place of that, I would really like to try this for my mom’s 84th birthday next week.
Julie says
Hi Kathy! You should be able to find Golden Mushroom Soup in the same area as Cream of Mushroom soup. It’s a different canned soup with a different flavor mixture than cream of mushroom. If you can’t find it, you can just do 2 cans of cream of mushroom instead.
Becky Perry says
My kids LOVE this recipe, and would eat it every night if I’d let them! I serve it over mashed potatoes instead of the egg noodles, so when making it, I omit the water and the eggnoodles. Turns out great!
Julie says
I’m glad it’s a hit with the whole family!
Courtney Baker says
This was my first time using my new Instant Pot that I got for Christmas and this was fantastic! I’ve never used an Instant Pot before and now I’m in LOVE! Thank you so much for sharing and the great directions!
Julie says
You’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed it and fell in love with your Instant Pot! It will save you loads of time on meals in the future!
Deborah Smith says
I’ve made this twice now, and both times I get “burn notice” once the pot has come to full pressure. I have to depressurize the pot, open lid, stir things up, bring the pot back up to full pressure and let it go through the cycle. Should I set my pot to less pressure? I sure love the results of this recipe but am beginning to think it is better suited to a crock pot or stovetop method of cooking.
Julie says
I do have the slow cooker version here, otherwise try layering in your ingredients with the noodles on top instead of stirring them in. That might help!

I made this using your recipe for my family today and it turned out really well!
Julie says
Glad to hear it!
Alisia says
Made this tonight and the whole family loved it! I added 1 1/2 c more noodles after reading reviews about excess liquid and it was perfect. Accidentally left the seal on “venting” but everything still turned out delicious. I call this a sanity saver recipe because it requires no effort at all. On my busiest days this really helps to have dinner ready in under 20 minutes!
Julie says
Yes! Anything that can reduce the effort for dinner is what I’m all about! I’m glad it was such a hit with your family!
Esther Maludzinski says
Way too soupy and I halved the sauce ingredients but kept pasta the same and it was still really soupy!!
Julie says
Hmmmm, I haven’t had that issue, sorry it didn’t work out for you!
Frances Gorecki says
I have made this twice. Both times I used the same brand of frozen meatballs and both times mine had too much liquid too. I wonder if the brand of frozen meatballs makes a difference in the amount of liquid. I still love the recipe even with it juicy. Next time I’ll try different meatballs. If that doesn’t help, I’ll add more noodles.
Dawn Krantz says
This was truly so yummy, and so simple to make! I put the liquids in first, layered the meatballs next, and poured in the pasta without stirring the solids. It was perfect, thank you so much for sharing!
Julie says
You’re welcome! Thank you for the review, I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
Deborah Smith says
I think your method of layering the pasta on top would have prevented me from getting the “burn notice”. I will try this the next time I make it. Otherwise, I think this is a wonderful recipe!
MECHELLE WARD says
This was amazing!
Julie says
So happy you loved it!
Mindy says
I have made this dish so many times and it is so flavorful and delicious.
Julie says
Thanks for the rating and review! I’m so happy it is a recipe you continue to go back to 😊
Trish Lietz says
Can I freeze half of this recipe?
Julie says
Yes, these should freeze well!
Chelsea says
Pretty darn tasty and definitely an easy one to always have the ingredients on hand for! I do wish the amount of pasta was in ounces instead of cups because cups just isnt all that accurate depending on what kind of noodles you have or are using.
Julie says
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lora says
I made this tonight and it was delicious! I used a can of cream chicken instead of golden mushroom as that’s what I had on hand. Definitely on the rotation.
Julie says
So happy you loved it!
