Pressure Cooker Swedish Meatballs
Our family LOVES Swedish Meatballs and I typically make them in my Crock Pot, but I decided it was time to convert that recipe to my favorite pressure cooker so I could make them quickly when I didn’t plan ahead!
Like that ever happens, right?!
My mom passed this original recipe down to me and it’s become one of our favorite meals. One of my kids likes the meatballs, one kid likes the noodles and one kid isn’t picky. I love it when a meal has everything to please everyone.
I just throw some peas or a side salad with the Swedish Meatballs and it’s a quick and easy meal and I usually have everything on hand. I always try to keep a bag of frozen meatballs in the freezer for crazy nights when I just don’t know what else to make.
What is special about Swedish meatballs?
THAT is a great question! IKEA is an affordable furniture, kitchen appliance store. Almost every college kid’s dorm is outfitted from IKEA. They carry everything from desks to glassware and oh by the way… a cafeteria where they are famous for their … Swedish Meatballs!
If you have never ate at IKEA, do that next time you visit! It’s affordable and delicious!

Julie says
You’re so welcome! I’m glad this can be your go-to recipe!
Amber says
I accidentally put the sour cream in with everything else prior to cooking. Did I just mess up the whole recipe???Its cooking right now….
Julie says
No, it should be fine!
Amber says
I accidentally put the sour cream in with the entire mix. Did I just mess it all up? Its cooking right now
Julie says
Nope you will be okay!
Melissa says
Having a hard time finding golden mushroom soup lately. Any other suggestions i could use instead? Love this recipe.
Julie Evink says
I would just use regular cream of mushroom soup!
Shannon says
I am trying this dish tonight, my only issue is the meatballs. It calls for 24oz so about how many meatballs is that? If you want a lot do you need to increase the cook time?
Julie says
24 oz is about 24 meatballs. Your Instant pot will adjust the pressure based on the weight of the food so if you add more you should be okay sticking to the original cook time.
Teresa says
I’d like to make this without the noodles. We liked mashed potatoes. How would I change the recipe?
Julie says
You can just leave out the noodles and follow the same cooking instructions to make the meatballs. As far as mashed potatoes go, I do have an Instant Pot recipe for them but you’d have to do them separately from the meatballs.

Momof4kris says
I have everything except the gravy packet. I wonder if it’ll be ok without it? Or is there something I can sub ?
Julie says
I think you’ll want the gravy packet for added flavor. You could use any gravy packet, it wouldn’t have to be brown gravy. Also, I know someone else mentioned using an Au Jus packet and that it turned out great as well. Otherwise you could try it without, let me know how it goes if you do!
Cassandra says
Can you change the soups?
Julie says
Yes, you can use any “cream of” soup that you prefer.
Meghan Lowry says
i have tried this reipe twice and each time my instant pot says its preheating and then eventually says Food Burning. I do not know what i am doing wrong. At first i thought it was the seal but i double checked it then tried making something else and it worked. i tried adding more liquid the second time around when it said food burn again but nothing seems to work.
Let me know if you have had this problem at all.
Julie says
I’m sorry Meghan, the burn notice is such a pain sometimes! Try stirring the meatballs in but leave the noodles sitting on top of the soup mixture. I know others have had success with this with my stroganoff recipe.
Meghan says
What meatballs do you use ? I couldn’t find actual frozen Swedish meatballs
Julie says
You can use any frozen meatball variety or brand. The “Swedish meatball” part comes from the sauce.
Lisa says

I either have the wrong size Instant Pot or 3c noodles is way too much. It went to the top of my pot and didn’t cook the noodles.
Julie says
You maybe have a 3 quart Instant Pot, this recipe works best in a 6 quart.
