Pressure Cooker Swedish Meatballs
Our family LOVES Swedish Meatballs and I typically make them in my Crock Pot, but I decided it was time to convert that recipe to my favorite pressure cooker so I could make them quickly when I didn’t plan ahead!
Like that ever happens, right?!
My mom passed this original recipe down to me and it’s become one of our favorite meals. One of my kids likes the meatballs, one kid likes the noodles and one kid isn’t picky. I love it when a meal has everything to please everyone.
I just throw some peas or a side salad with the Swedish Meatballs and it’s a quick and easy meal and I usually have everything on hand. I always try to keep a bag of frozen meatballs in the freezer for crazy nights when I just don’t know what else to make.
What is special about Swedish meatballs?

If you have never ate at IKEA, do that next time you visit! It’s affordable and delicious!

Going to make this tonight !!!
One thing I’m noticing is the keep warm button is always on.
I turn it off before using my instapot and so far haven’t had the burn light come on😀
Julie Evink says
Oooo good tip! I’ve never noticed that!
shelly compton says
this recipe was very good and I didn’t have many meat balls so I cut the water down to 1 1/2 cups turned out good I did add some A-1 sauce as someone suggested.
Julie Evink says
Awesome! So glad to hear it Shelly!
Leamon G Rollo says
Followed the recipe exactly, the instant pot never come up to pressure and gave me a burn notice. Had to finish the dish on sauté. I used the pot for the first time last weekend and the pressure worked perfectly. Don’t think the creamy soups were enough to build pressure.
Julie Evink says
I’m so sorry to hear this! It has always worked for me 🙁 What size of Instant Pot were you using?
Mandi says
Mine kept giving me the burn notice too. Mine is a 6qt I think. After the 3rd notice I just put it on the stove to finish it.
Julie Evink says
That’s a bummer. I’m sorry. I’ve never had this happen. I have a 6 quart, but it’s the older version and I’ve heard the newer ones give off the burn notice easier.
Teresa says
The perfect busy night meal! Easy and so delicious. This is definitely going on the rotation. Thank you!
Julie Evink says
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed it Teresa!
Sharon Schroeter says
Julie, this sounds wonderful! Could I add a bag of frozen vegetables? Would I need to increase the cooking time?
Thanks so much for another great recipe!
Julie Evink says
I think that would work fine. I would keep the cooking time the same!
Sharon Schroeter says
Thanks Julie for your reply. I’m lazy and really like it when I can cook dinner in one pot 😉 Keep up the good work!
Jess says
Made it tonight for the first time and let me tell you this meal has been added to the favorites list 😊💯🤤
Julie Evink says

Cara Griffiths says

So glad to hear it Cara!!
Anita says
If I want to double the recipe do I add more time?
Michelle Sperr says
Hi Anita! Thank you for your question. I haven’t personally tried this recipe doubled. Cooking time would depend on the size Instant Pot you have but feel free to try it!
Carly says
No, you would not need to add any time if you double the recipe. It also doesn’t matter which size pot it is either.
Alexandra says
These were great! I did not cook the noodles (I was out) so made some mashed potatoes to serve them over. I did add a 1/4 cup of A1 as I saw that on other recipes.
Julie Evink says
So glad you enjoyed them! Thanks for leaving a review!
Sandy says
Is the time different for cooking if I use freshly made meatballs instead of frozen meatballs?
Julie says
Cook time should remain the same but I would change two things – Sear the meatballs before pressure cooking them so they don’t fall apart and do a 5 minute slow release after they are done cooking, quick release the remaining pressure after the 5 minutes.
Marisa says
I made this for my family last night and it was amazing. There were definitely no leftovers because everyone went back for seconds!
Julie says
That’s awesome, Marisa! I’m so glad it was a hit with the whole family!
Michelle says
Made this tonight and it was a huge hit. So easy! This will definitely stay in the rotation.
Julie says
Perfect! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Douglas Williams says
I used instead of two cans of cream of mushroom soup I used one can of cream of mushroom and garlic soup with one jar of alfredo sauce four cheese and prepared it like the recipe you have written down. It was Dynamite all I needed was a little more pepper
Julie says
Perfect! I’m glad you loved it!
Robin Fox says
Can I cook the noodles separately and add after? If so, would I do QR OR NR?
Julie says
Yes you can, follow the same cooking directions to cook the meatballs with a quick release.
Heather says
If I leave the noodles out do I still add the same amount of water? Thanks
Julie says
You could probably reduce the water to 1 cup.
