- Clean-up is actually pretty easy. You’ll need to wash a bowl, a skillet and potentially a baking dish if you don’t use an oven safe skillet. But that’s it!

Ingredients for Parmesan Crusted Pork Chops
- Boneless pork chops – I like pork chops to be about 1 inch thick.
- Italian seasoned breadcrumbs – Make the best crispy crust with some Italian bread crumbs.
- Olive oil – The best olive oil to use to fry is a pure olive oil or regular olive oil. If you use an Extra Virgin Olive Oil it has a smoke point of 375 degrees F and if it gets hotter than that it can affect the taste.
- Grated parmesan cheese – Mix some parmesan cheese with seasonings and Italian panko breadcrumbs to make the tastiest breading.
- Seasonings – A combo of smoked paprika, dried parsley, garlic powder, and black pepper is so flavorful!
Helpful Tools
How to Make Parmesan Crusted Pork Chops
- Combine the Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, paprika, parsley, garlic powder, and pepper in a shallow dish. I like to use a pie plate because it’s wide enough for the pork chops.
- Then, heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- While you wait for the oil to heat up, bread the pork chops by dipping them in the breadcrumb mixture. Gently press the pork chops into the breadcrumbs so that they are evenly coated.
- Place them into the frying pan with hot oil and cook them for about two minutes on each side.
- If your frying pan is oven-safe, then you can just transfer the pork chops in it to bake in the oven. Otherwise, you’ll need to transfer the pork chops to a baking dish.
- Bake the pork chops for 8 to 10 minutes or until the internal temperature is 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Remove from the oven and allow the pork to rest for a few minutes before serving.
How to Store Leftover Pork Chops
FRIDGE: Place leftovers in an airtight container, then store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
FREEZER: You can either wrap leftovers in aluminum foil and into a freezer bag, or place them into an airtight container. Then store in the freezer for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw before reheating.
Is it better to bake or pan fry pork chops?
Baking pork chops is one of the easiest ways to ensure that they fully cook and do not dry out. However, quickly pan frying the crust on both sides before baking the pork chops helps crisp it up and ensure an even bake on the entire pork chop!
How do you keep pork chops from getting tough?
The most important step to ensuring this cut of meat isn’t tough is ensuring that you do not overcook it. Always use an instant read meat thermometer and cook them until they are 145 degrees Fahrenheit in the middle. A little pink in teh center is ok if the temperature is correct.
It is also important that you allow the pork chops rest before cutting into them.
It is known that bone-in pork chops are a bit easier to keep tender and juicy than boneless. So feel free to use those in this recipe if you’re having trouble with boneless!
What to Serve with Parmesan Crusted Pork Chops
Pair baked parmesan crusted pork chops with quick and easy sides like air fryer broccoli or even broccoli casserole. They’re also SO tasty with classic sides like mashed potatoes or mac and cheese.
Pesto pasta salad or Italian pasta salad would be yummy too! Or throw some other comfort sides together like au gratin potatoes.
Pro Tips for the Best Parmesan Crusted Pork Chops
- Keep in mind that you may need to add some extra cook time so that they heat all the way through. For best results, use 1 inch thick pork chops.
- Use a shallow bowl to mix the breading in so that you can easily coat each pork chop.
- Use an instant-read thermometer to quickly and accurately check the internal temp of each pork chop.
A quick protein packed dinner recipe that’s flavorful and juicy! This is a go-to recipe for sure.

Pork chops can vary in size. Costco sells VERY thick boneless pork chops. So, what is the ideal thickness? The video pork chops look about an inch thick??? Thank you, can’t wait to try. Low carbs too, even with the bread crumbs.
Julie Evink says
Hi Claudia! My pork chops are usually 3/4” to 1” thick. Hope that helps!
Rose says
No salt needed?
Julie says
Nope, the bread crumbs provide enough flavor!
lisa says
What do you think if I use thin cut pork chops – would you just fry? or if you put them in the oven how long would you do it?
Julie says
You could probably just finish them up in the frying pan instead of baking them.
Kim says
I loved these and so did hubby . I didn’t bake them but I just cooked them in the skillet . I want use this on chicken breast soon. So yummy.
Julie says
Chicken would be delicious too! I’m glad you enjoyed them!

If I use chicken instead of pork chops how long do I cook them?
Julie says
I would preheat to 375 and cook them 40-45 minutes for chicken – you want to reach an internal temp of 165 degrees.
Sigrid says
My chops came out of the oven soggy.. I could only fry 2 at a time but put all 4 in another pan for oven..
Julie says
The breading came out soggy?
