Ingredients for Toast Pizza
- Sandwich bread – You can use any type of bread you want. White bread, whole wheat, gluten free — anything fluffy and fresh will work!
- Mozzarella cheese – For the most ooey gooey results, shred your own mozzarella cheese.
- Mini pepperoni – If you are unable to find mini pepperoni, you can use regular sized pepperoni. I recommend slicing them up though, they’ll fit on the slice of bread a little bit better.
- Pizza sauce – Grab a jar of pizza sauce at the grocery store, or make your own homemade marinara sauce.

How to Store Pizza Toast
Pizza toast is best when fresh, but you can store leftovers if you need to. Place leftovers into an airtight container or plastic bag.
FRIDGE: Store in the fridge for up to 2 days. Any longer and the bread may become soggy.
FREEZER: You can freeze these, but the texture may be a little off after reheating. First, let them freeze on a baking sheet and then transfer to an airtight container or freezer bag.
Reheat in the oven to crisp up the bread again!
Which bread is best for pizza toast?
Any bread you want to use will work! Whole wheat and regular white bread are our favorites. You could also use honey wheat or another tasty flavor. For a thicker “crust”, Texas toast would work. You can also use a crusty bread like sourdough bread if you want something extra crunchy!

Now that you know how to make pizza toast, you can add whatever toppings you’d like. Some of our favorites are:
- bacon
- diced ham
- Canadian bacon
- Italian sausage

Pro Tips for the Best Toast Pizza
- Don’t load up your toast pizza with too many toppings or the bread could get soggy.
- Watch the slices of bread closely in the oven. Different types of bread may not take as long to toast.
- Allow the pizza toast to cool before serving or the melty cheese may just slide right off the bread. For ease of serving to kiddos, cut up the toast into little sticks with a sharp knife.
