Sloppy Joe Casserole is a quick and easy casserole recipe that is perfect for dinner! It’s the perfect recipe for a family dinner that screams comfort food. All your favorite flavors from sloppy joes with a crust made from Bisquick that’s easy and delicious!
Raise your hand if you grew up eating sloppy joes! You know, those hot ground beef sandwiches with the tangy sauce served on hamburger buns? We actually called them Barbecues growing up, but I think that’s a midwestern thing! So, sloppy joes – barbecues, whatever you want to call them they are a comforting family-friendly dinner, right?
Well, we’re getting our sloppy joe on today but we’re doing it as a casserole instead. A big, bubbling hot sloppy joe casserole topped with a super easy crust that’s ready to serve in less than an hour!
You guys know how cold it gets here in the winter because I’m pretty sure I write about it every year! Don’t get me wrong, I love a Minnesota winter but it’s absolutely necessary to have all kinds of hearty and comforting dinners to help us get through! Chili and Chicken Pot Pie Casserole are two of our favorites and, of course, this Sloppy Joe Casserole.
You can definitely serve this easy casserole year-round, but around here it goes into heavy rotation during the cold weather months. Plus, it’s one of those dinners I know will please everyone – the hubby loves it, the kiddos gobble it up, and I love it, too, because it’s easy to make and the leftovers reheat well.

What goes with Sloppy Joe Casserole?
Sloppy Joe Casserole is really hearty so I like to serve a vegetable side with it. Roasted Cauliflower, Skinny Broccoli Slaw, Creamed Peas and Lemon Asparagus are all good choices.

I have a question, can you use sour cream instead of the greek yogurt?
Julie Evink says
You sure can!
Tracey @ The Kitchen is My Playground says
I feel your pain, Julie! I even NAMED one of my dishes with ‘ugly’ in it ’cause is was so ugly! … Ugly Buttermilk Baked Chicken. It’s totally yummy, but totally ugly and impossible to photograph well! Oh well, we just do the best we can. 🙂

Julie Evink says
Haha that’s awesome! I’ll have to keep that strategy in mind!
Ashley says
It’s true, ugly food really is a bummer. Especially when it’s super delicious and you want to scream for everyone to try it. But your picture makes me want to eat it, so decidedly not ugly. 🙂
Julie Evink says
Woohoo! I was successful 🙂
Lyuba@willcookforsmiles says
This is pretty awesome!! I need to try it soon 🙂
Jen Nikolaus says
I think this looks awesome, Julie!!! In fact, I might make it this week for my family! I feel the same way, though…I’ll make a super yummy dinner and think “how the crap am I going to make this look good?!” I LOVE casseroles but they are so hard to get good pictures of! Anyway, I think you did a great job! My mom is my biggest fan too, lol! Oh, question: is the chobani just plain (non-fat) greek yogurt?
Julie Evink says
LOL the problems of a blogger! I’m always going on Foodgawker and searching similar recipes so I get some inspiration! I’m terrible at coming up with different ways to take a picture. I’m scared all mine are going to look the same! And yup Chobani is just a brand of greek yogurt!
Jocelyn@BruCrew Life says
