An Impressive Jello Poke Cake Recipe!
I’ve been thinking I should make this recipe for awhile but I’ve never got around to it. It’s a frequent visitor at meals when I go to other people’s houses. So I made a phone call to my hubby’s stepmom one Sunday morning and requested the recipe.
I needed something simple and fast to make for a dessert and this fit the bill. My mom had hemmed a pair of jeans for the hubby and decided that for her “pay” she wanted to come over for Creamy Chicken Enchiladas. This is the one recipe she refuses to make saying that it’s my “treat” recipe when she’s craving it. I was thinking about making Strawberry Pretzel for dessert, but opt’d instead for this Jello Poke Cake

How long does it need to be refrigerated before eating after all the toppings get added?
Brenda says
I love this cake and I have made it numerous times, but I have one question does it require the cake to sit in the fridge for 3-4 hours? What happens if it does not sit for 3 hours in the fridge?
Julie Evink says
The main thing to make sure it’s cool before you proceed to the next step.
Mitch says
The way they make jello in the vid is wrong you do not mix the cold and hot water together then mix in the jello you mix jello into the boiling water then add cold
Cyndi says
Yep. You need the boiling water to melt the Jello Strawberry Mix prior to adding the cold water. I’ve been making this cake for years because I’m not a big sweet-eater (neither am I ever on a diet, so I never use sugar-free anything for this recipe), but since it isn’t a sickly-sweet cake anyway I’ve always found it to be a very light, refreshing cold dessert to have in the Summer heat, especially! I believe I’ve made it before without the Whipped Cream, just used more Vanilla Pudding to make a thicker “icing”. I’m trying it this year for my Husband’s Birthday using a Strawberry Cake Mix. Not sure if that’ll be a little too much or just better. We’ll see! 🙂
Julie says
Hope he enjoys it!

I’m unable to find a 3.4 ounce box sugar free vanilla pudding.

Julie Evink says
No it will just be sweeter.
Brenda says
I did not let my cake cool for 3-4 hours. I allowed it to sit while i mixed the jello and again while I mixed the pudding will it taste ok?
Julie Evink says
I would just worry about the top layers kind of melting into everything.
