Ingredients

  • 4-6 cube steaks about 1.5 pounds
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup 10.5 ounces each
  • 2.2 ounces beefy onion dry soup mix 1 envelope
  • 4 Tablespoons butter sliced
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and beefy onion soup mix until combined.
  • Spread a little of the soup mixture onto the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle half the onions on to the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Add your cube steak on top of soup and onions.
  • Pour the remaining soup mixture on top of the meat.
  • Sprinkle the rest of the onions over the top.
  • Place the butter slices on top of everything.
  • Cover and slow cook on low for 6-8 hours or high 3-4 hours until the meat is tender.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
  • Serve over rice, egg noodles or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • We recommend cooking this for 6-8 hours, but if it’s in the crockpot longer that’s fine. Don’t worry about it being over cooked.
  • Don’t remove the lid! Just let this cook all day long. If you remove the lid moisture escapes and therefore moisture escapes your food.
  • Want a thicker gravy? Mix 1-2 Tablespoons of cornstarch or flour with 2 to 3 Tablespoons of water until smooth. Then add it to the crock pot, stir and let it thicken.
  • We enjoy our slow cooker cube steak with gravy served over egg noodles, but try it with mashed potatoes or rice to mix it up!
  • Throw in a few cubed potatoes with the steak in the crock pot and let that cook with it.
Storage And Reheating Tips
If you have leftovers place them in the a shallow, airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
Leftovers can also be frozen for up to 3 months in a freezer container.
To reheat leftovers, thaw if it is frozen overnight in the refrigerator. We recommend reheating it in the oven in an oven safe dish, covered for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees or until heated through.
You can also warm it on the stove top in a skillet, covered on low heat until heated through.
Leftovers can be reheated in the microwave in a microwave safe dish but this can dry it out a bit!
