Make Ahead Mashed Potatoes are the secret recipe for a stress free holiday dinner. Prep them the day before and then just bake them the day of your holiday dinner. This recipe is full of flavor and so easy to make! I love the addition of cream cheese and sour cream to these potatoes!

  • 5 lbs red potatoes 13 medium
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 2 tsp onion salt
  • 1 tsp salt if desired
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1/4 c. milk optional


  • Wash, peel and dice potatoes.
  • Cook potatoes in large pot for approximately 40 minutes. Or until they are fully cooked and soft. Drain off water. Add the rest of the ingredients and beat until fluffy. Add milk if needed.
  • Cover and refrigerate.
  • When ready to use preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Bake for 30-45 minutes.
