  • 2 apples thinly sliced
  • 3 - 5 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 Tbsp whole cloves
  • 1/2 Tbsp whole star anise
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1 1/3 c. bourbon or rum

Instructions

Crock Pot Instructions

  • Pour apple juice into slow cooker.
  • Add clementines, apples cloves or star anise, brown sugar and cinnamon sticks, cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours.
  • Stir in bourbon or rum.
  • Let stand 5-10 minutes to let flavors mix.
  • Remove fruit and spices from pot and serve garnished with cinnamon sticks, apples and/or clementines if desired.

Stove Top Instructions

  • In a 6 quart dutch oven add clementines, apples cloves or star anise, brown sugar and cinnamon sticks, cover and simmer for 2-3 hours.
  • Stir in bourbon or rum.
  • Let stand 5-10 minutes to let flavors mix.
  • Remove fruit and spices from pot and serve garnished with cinnamon sticks, apples and/or clementines if desired.

Notes

  • You can cool the cider and then chill it in the fridge. Serve it over ice as a cold apple cider cocktail.
  • You can make the cider ahead and chill it for five days! When you’re ready to serve you can warm it in your slow cooker or serve it cold with ice.
  • Sometimes I grab Apple Cider from the store, warm that up and just add the alcohol at the end if I'm really in a hurry!
