In a shallow bowl or plate add breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning to shallow bowl or plate and mix with fork.
In another shallow bowl or plate add flour.
In a small bowl whisk together egg, salt, pepper and buttermilk, then add to a third shallow bowl or plate.
Dip cheese stick into egg mixture, then into flour, back into the egg mixture and then into the breadcrumbs. Press crumbs into cheese gently.
Place on a sheet pan and freeze for 20-30 minutes.
Add about 2 inches of oil to heavy skillet and heat to 350 degrees F.
Add to hot oil in batches and fry until golden on all sides, about 2 minutes or until golden brown, turning frequently.
Remove from oil and drain on a plate lined with a paper towel. Serve immediately with favorite dipping sauces.
