Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter 226 grams
  • 1 ounce package dry ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 ½ teaspoons dried dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 packages plain oyster crackers 9 ounce/255 gram each
  • 2 Tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit and line 2 large baking sheets with non-stick aluminum foil or parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Melt the butter either in a small saucepan over low heat or in a microwave-safe bowl. When the butter is completely melted, stir in the ranch seasoning mix, dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, and ground black pepper.
  • Add the oyster crackers to a large mixing bowl and pour the butter mixture over the crackers. Gently stir with a rubber spatula until all the crackers are coated with the butter mixture.
  • Spread the crackers in a single layer on the baking sheets. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crackers begin to turn light golden brown, stirring once halfway through baking.
  • Sprinkle the crackers evenly with the grated Parmesan cheese immediately upon removing from the oven.
  • Allow the crackers to cool before serving.

Notes

How long do they keep?
If you don’t plan to serve them right away, keep them in an airtight container at room temperature. They will keep well for several days.
Do you have to bake them?
I prefer to bake homemade seasoned crackers because it crisps them up, so they’re nice and toasted. Technically, you don’t have to bake them, but I highly recommend doing it!
What other flavors can you make?
Spicy Ranch: Make the recipe as instructed, but add some red pepper flakes to the butter mixture for some spice.
Fajita: Swap the ranch seasoning for fajita seasoning and add a few pinches of cayenne to kick up the heat.
Cajun: Use your favorite Cajun seasoning mix instead of the ranch.
Italian: Try some Italian seasoning mix – it would pair great with the Parmesan!
French Herbs: Buy some Herbes de Provence, which is a mix made with different dried herbs.
Chili: Trade the ranch for your favorite chili seasoning mix!
Lemon Pepper: Use this mix to make a lemony cracker snack mix!
