Chef Salad

Classic Chef Salad is an all American dish with lettuce, meat, eggs, cheese and topped with dressing.

Ingredients

  • 1 head lettuce your favorite, we used romaine hearts
  • 2-4 medium tomatoes sliced or wedged
  • ½ English cucumber sliced thinly or 2 small cucumbers
  • 1 red onion thinly sliced
  • ¼ pound ham cubed or sliced
  • ¼ pound turkey cubed or sliced
  • 4 strips bacon cooked and crumbed
  • ¼ pound cheese your favorite, cubed
  • 4 hard boiled eggs peeled and cut in half or quartered
  • Ranch or Thousand Island dressing to serve

Instructions

  • Wash and dry lettuce. Tear or chop into bite size pieces.Add the lettuce to a large platter or bowl.
  • Top with remaining prepared ingredients.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite salad dressing and additional toppings if you like.
  • Store leftovers in refrigerator with dressing separate.

Notes

Store leftover salad in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Store the dressing separately so the salad doesn't get soggy. Try to avoid storing croutons with the salad in the fridge or they will become soft.
