Combine the panko, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder in a bowl. Add the flour to another. Then, whisk the buttermilk with the egg, salt, and pepper in another.

Dip a cheese stick in the buttermilk mixture, followed by the flour, then in more buttermilk.

Roll in the breadcrumb mixture. Place on a sheet pan and freeze.

Fry on all sides in hot oil, then drain on a plate. Serve with favorite dipping sauces.
