Shake and Bake Pork Chops are a quick and easy weeknight dinner featuring a perfectly seasoned coating that bakes up crispy and golden while keeping the pork chops juicy and tender—no frying needed.
The nostalgia of a good shake and bake supper, am I right? There was just nothing like coming home to the smell of oven fried pork chops back in the day. I am going to share the best homemade shake and bake pork chops to send you back in time.
This is such a great meal option because it takes very little prep time and is so satisfying. The options for sides are pretty endless, but we always love to have mashed potatoes and an easy broccoli salad. Sometimes we double up the salad and eat it for lunch the next day.
The seasonings in this shake and bake recipe combine to make the perfect flavor and really spice up the plain bread crumbs. Pork chops with shake and bake seasoning are a hit in our house every single time and I know it is because of how the bread crumb mix is seasoned. Of course, the juiciness of the pork plays a part in it too but the flavor of these juicy pork chops from the seasoning is SO good!

ingredients for shake and bake pork chops
- Plain breadcrumbs – Use regular breadcrumbs that aren’t preseasoned. Panko breadcrumbs are also a great option.
- Canola oil – This will bind the bread crumbs and seasoning to the pork chops.
- Seasoning – Smoked paprika, white sugar, ground black pepper, seasoning salt, garlic powder and onion powder.
- Pork chops – Boneless pork chops will cook more evenly than bone-in pork chops. You can use bone-in pork chops, you will just have to increase your cooking time a little and keep a close eye on the internal temperature near the bone.
how to make shake and bake pork chops
- In a medium size mixing bowl add the bread crumbs, oil, and all the spices and mix until well combined. Add the seasoning mix to a large ziplock bag.
- One pork chop at a time, add the pork to the ziplock bag, seal tightly and shake to coat the pork chop in the breadcrumb mixture. Transfer the pork chop to the greased baking sheet.
- Place sheet pan in preheated oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Allow to rest before serving.
pro tips
- Be sure to mix the breadcrumb mixture really well so the pork chops turn out nice and crispy. Too much oil in one place will make them soggy.
- Blotting the pork chops dry with a paper towel before shaking in coating will help them get even crispier by getting rid of any excess moisture.
- Pork chops that are a consistent size will cook evenly so you aren’t left guessing. We use about 1-inch thick pork chops.
- Store leftovers on a piece of paper towel to absorb moisture, ensuring the pork stays crispy when you reheat it.
can i use an air fryer?
Yes, you can air fry shake and bake pork chops. If your oven is being used for something else, or you don’t want to heat up your house by turning the oven on, this is a great option.
Bake in the air fryer basket for about 10-15 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Flip halfway through.
Storage & Reheating
Store leftover pork chops in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days. Try to store them in a single layer so the breading doesn’t get stuck and come off when you pick up a pork chop to reheat it.
Reheat shake and bake pork chops in the oven or even in your air fryer. I don’t recommend using the microwave because it can make the breading soggy. Be sure to reheat to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
The kids will run to the table when they hear shake and bake pork chops are on the menu tonight! Perfectly seasoned and crispy pork chops will quickly become weeknight staple.
