Layered Strawberry Salad ~ Light and fluffy layers of Strawberry Jell-O! Always a crowd pleaser!
Why hello Cyber Monday. It’s so nice to meet you!
Did any of the rest of you hit up online shopping instead of braving the crowds on Black Friday? I know I did! I have went once and that one time was enough for this girl. Maybe if I found something super cheap that I had to have I would again, but that has yet to happen.
Instead I sat at my computer on Cyber Monday and embraced the online deals. I scratched off a few more people on my list and hope to be done shopping after Friday when my mom and I head out of town and hit up the malls.
The recipe I’m sharing with you originates from my mom once again. It’s a super simple, delicious salad that is a crowd please at holidays. I know I have enough get-togethers this time of year and am always looking for new recipes! Funny thing about this salad is that the recipe doesn’t specifically say it is supposed to layer. My mom’s always does, mine did, but when my Aunt Mary tries it the layering does not happen. You’ll have to let me know if it works out for you!

Layered Strawberry Salad
Layered Strawberry Salad ~ Light and fluffy layers of Strawberry Jell-O! Always a crowd pleaser!
Ingredients
- 2 6 oz large packages of strawberry Jell-O
- 4 c. water
- 1 pt heaving whipping cream whipped
- 2 10 oz packages frozen strawberries
Instructions
- Boil water and add jello to water. Stir until it is dissolved.
- Stir in strawberries until the mixture becomes syrupy. *Side note – Mine never got syrupy so I just went to the next step and it turned out fine!
- Whisk in the whipping cream (that has been whipped to form stiff peaks) to the jello mixture. It will dissolve and shouldn’t have lumps left in the mixture.
- Pour into a glass bowl. Make sure it’s a big bowl! Let sit in the fridge until it sets up. I left mine overnight.

My mom made a similar jello recipe that would layer like this as it setup. Hers had crushed pineapple & cream cheese. She would dissolve the jello, mix in the other ingredients & put in a 9×13 glass dish. It was a family favorite but unfortunately none of my relatives had her recipe. I have tried to make it but it never comes out like hers. She passed away 33 years ago & I wish I knew how she made it. She was a wonderful cook!

My mom made a similar sounding recipe and I’m trying to find it! She mixed the strawberry jello with frozen strawberries and crushed pineapple for the bottom layer, then cream cheese which I think was blended with sour cream, then smooth strawberry jello over the top.

Hey Suzie, my mom made a similar dish. She put pecans in hers too. Poured the strawberry jello mixture with crushed pineapple in it in a Pyrex dish and refrigerated until set up. Smoothed on sour cream mixture and then poured rest of jello/fruit mixture on top and refrigerated until it set up. It was delicious!!!

Did I miss something or does this recipe only provide the directions for one of the three layers? I assume one layer is plain hello but what’s the third layer?

If you read the post I talk about how it sepearates into the layers, but I’m not guaranteeing it will work! It always has for me, but one of my aunts had it fail on her. We can’t figure out why!

Do you use frozen sweetened strawberries in syrup or the frozen unsweetened ones? This may have something to do with the layering. Very pretty salad!

Mine didn’t layer either and I used s glass bowl. So hoped it would. I don’t really understand what would make it layer.

Eve, my mom made one similar with orange jello, orange sherbert and mandarin oranges and it layered itself when it set up.

Can you help me with the heavy whipping cream? Is there a shoe rate recipe for it, or do you just buy heavy cream and whip it? Sorry, I just wasn’t sure! Thanks!!

I made this jello salad last night for tonights Christmas dinner. It looks yummy but mine didn’t layer like the beautiful photo. Bummer! I used a plastic bowl however and I’m wondering if that might make a difference, somehow?!? Any chance you, your mom, or aunt Mary used a plastic bowl? Would be curious to hear!

Me and my mom always use the glass bowl when we make it so that is interesting you used a plastic bowl to make it and it didn’t layer! Maybe that’s the reason behind this all!

I did a little walmart shopping and a little online shopping, it was a good mix.
This salad is beautiful, I love how it separates into 3 layers like that.
