This is the BEST Crockpot Green Bean Casserole. Creamy, easy to make and delicious. It makes a large batch and it perfect for saving oven space during the holidays because it’s made entirely in your slow cooker. Make this staple side dish for all of your holiday meals.

Don’t forget to embrace your slow cooker during holiday meals! It’s such a great tool to help save on oven space and makes your recipes hands off, which is always a great thing when hosting a holiday dinner.
This easy Crockpot Green Bean Casserole is just as good, if not better, than the traditional oven baked green bean casserole, especially when you are running out of oven space. We have added an extra ingredient to make it over the top delicious!
Why this recipe works:
- Made in the crock pot to save oven space for other holiday dishes.
- Stays nice and warm in the Crock Pot if you are transporting it to a holiday meal.
- Only requires 10 minutes of prep, so anyone can make it.
Ingredients Needed
- Canned French style green beans
- Canned cream of mushroom soup
- Milk
- Parmesan cheese
- Fried onions
- Garlic
- Salt and pepper
If you’d rather use fresh green beans you can use those. It will take about 6 cups of fresh, trimmed and cut green beans for this recipe. Cook it on low for 2-3 hours or until green beans are tender. If you’d rather use canned cut green beans instead of the french style green beans you can substitute those.
You can use any condensed soup like celery or chicken in place of the mushroom, but we think the mushroom is the best option.
Steps to Prepare
- Spray the slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
- Carefully mix everything, except the fried onions.
- Spread evenly in the crock pot.
- Set slow cooker to low, cook for 2-3 hours.
- Top with French fried onions on top before serving.
Expert Tips
- Drain the cans of green beans well prior to mixing with the other ingredients or your casserole will be runny.
- You can mix up the casserole ahead of time and store in the refrigerator until ready to use. Just make sure to add about a 1/2 hour cook time because the mixture if cold when you start.
- If you want your French Fried Onions to be crispy like the traditional casserole then you can brown them in oven spread out on a baking sheet for a few minutes or in a skillet over medium-high heat on your stove top. When they are toasted sprinkle them over the casserole and serve immediately.
- You can keep this on the warm setting for up to 3 hours, but make sure to add the French Fried Onions right before serving or they get soggy. If you can avoid putting the lid back on after topping the casserole with the Fried Onions that is the best option to prevent them from getting soggy. Another great trick is to drape a paper towel over the Crock Pot then put the lid on. The paper towel will soak up condensation and help prevent the Fried Onions from getting soggy.
- If at the end of cooking time you think the casserole is to soupy simply cook the casserole with the cover off to allow some of the liquid to evaporate for about a 1/2 hour.
