Pressure Cooker Swedish Meatballs
Our family LOVES Swedish Meatballs and I typically make them in my Crock Pot, but I decided it was time to convert that recipe to my favorite pressure cooker so I could make them quickly when I didn’t plan ahead!
Like that ever happens, right?!
My mom passed this original recipe down to me and it’s become one of our favorite meals. One of my kids likes the meatballs, one kid likes the noodles and one kid isn’t picky. I love it when a meal has everything to please everyone.
I just throw some peas or a side salad with the Swedish Meatballs and it’s a quick and easy meal and I usually have everything on hand. I always try to keep a bag of frozen meatballs in the freezer for crazy nights when I just don’t know what else to make.
What is special about Swedish meatballs?
THAT is a great question! IKEA is an affordable furniture, kitchen appliance store. Almost every college kid’s dorm is outfitted from IKEA. They carry everything from desks to glassware and oh by the way… a cafeteria where they are famous for their … Swedish Meatballs!
If you have never ate at IKEA, do that next time you visit! It’s affordable and delicious!

How long to cook with no noddles inside?
Julie Evink says
Cook for 5 minutes on high pressure and then 5 minutes on natural release. Then you can quick release the remaining pressure!

I made the recipe as directed and it was good, I just felt it was missing some flavor, I am not good with just adding seasonings and spices so wondering if anyone has experienced with different seasonings?

Just made. 86 yo Mom approves (she’s a very finicky eater). I didn’t have the requisite cans of cream of mushroom but did have two cans of cream of mushroom & garlic. So Swedish with a touch of Italian. 🙂 I also added the noodles on top of the mix and turned out well with no burn notice. Cautionary note: when performing the QR watch for sputtering and release in bursts if needed.

Love to hear this. Thank you so much!

Love this simple recipe! One note I would add is use your 6qt or 8qt. I tried in the 3qt, and though the contents fit with some room at the top it did not get to pressure.

Thank you!

This recipe is so good. I loved the ease of making it. Basically pour and stir. It is so tasty. Even when it is leftovers. I will be making this many times. Thank you for sharing this recipe. Loved it.

This is one of my eldest grandson’s favorites. He requests it so often when we ask him what to make we have to specify, not this or it would be eaten every meal. I will be making it for the umpteenth time this coming weekend when we go camping.
It is saltier than I usually eat with the canned soups, but the ease, especially when we are camping make it a 5 star winner. I occasionally add some sauteed onions and it is even better! One of these days I want to try it with mushrooms, but we are a divided family, half love them, while the other half loathe them.
I rate and comment never! However, as I looked this up again, I felt compelled to say that this one is a total winner with my extended family.

Awww Kelly you made my day!!! Thanks for commenting and rating the recipe!

It took quite long to come to pressure and then once it did, I got a burn message. Did a quick release and when I opened it up it was cooked through. Tastes really great, but we did have some burn to the bottom. Wondering if I should skip the stirring after adding the meatballs and egg noodles?
Marissa says
I am having the same problem
Jenni says
I have found that I do the liquids, add the meatballs then stir that and just pour the noodles on top. I don’t get burn message. I used to get that when I made my taco pasta. Now when I make something that has pasta I just pour the pasta on top and don’t mix. Pasta is cooked mix it all after pressure release and tastes fantastic!!
Courtney says
Ooh this did work for me with stirring but it is interesting to hear that just pouring the pasta on top can be a way to avoid the burn message. Thank you for sharing!!

Is there a way to make without the egg noodles? Planning on making it a side for Easter and putting it on mashed potatoes. Would it simply be eliminating the noodles and water?
Susan says
I made a half recipe for 3 of us, adding sauteed onion and mushrooms. So good we devoured every bite!
