What is Million Dollar Dip?
Maybe you’re wondering what it’s called million dollar dip? It’s because it tastes like a million bucks! Yes, it really is that good and it’s one the easiest dips to make.
Some people also call it Neiman Marcus dip because it was apparently served at the restaurant in the department store. Whatever you want to call it, it’s delicious.
Why You Will Love This Easy Million Dollar Dip!
- What makes it so good is the combination of textures and flavors. Salty bacon, creamy mayo, fresh green onions, and crunchy almonds. Add some cheese and you get an appetizer everyone will love!
- It’s the best party dip because you can make it ahead and leave it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve it. Just add crackers, chips, veggie sticks, or other dippers you like!
- You only need six ingredients to make easy million dollar recipe. Keep them on hand and then you can make the dip whenever you get a craving.
Ingredients for Million Dollar Dip
- Mayonnaise – This gives the dip a creamy rich flavor. I do not recommend using low fat mayo.
- Shredded cheddar cheese – Mild or sharp cheddar cheese works great!
- Chopped green onions – I like to finely chop them for the dip and I use some for garnish, too.
- Bacon bits – Use store-bought bacon bits or try my air fryer bacon and finely chop it.
- Slivered almonds – Look for these in the baking aisle at the grocery store.
- Garlic powder – A dash of garlic powder adds so much flavor to this super simple dip recipe.
Is there a substitute for the mayonnaise?
If you want to lighten up the dip, you can use half mayo and half sour cream or Greek yogurt. If you don’t want to use any mayonnaise, you can use the same amount of sour cream but the dip won’t taste the same. It will still be delicious, but won’t have that rich flavor. Some people like to use a package cream cheese, so that’s an option too!

How to Make Million Dollar Dip
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and stir well. Cover the bowl and chill the dip in the refrigerator for at least two hours or overnight.
Garnish the dip with extra green onions and serve it will your favorite dippers.
What To Serve Million Dollar Dip With
We love it with Ritz crackers, saltines, Wheat Thins, and other crispy crackers. Some veggie sticks like carrot sticks and celery sticks are great with it too!
For more tasty crunch of fresh vegetables serve with some sliced bell peppers, sliced cucumbers, broccoli florets, and cauliflower florets. You can also use pretzels sticks, potato chips or tortilla chips to dip.
This tasty dip actually goes great on top of salads too!
Storage and Serving Tips
You can make this easy million dollar dip up to a day in advance! Keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve it.
Since it’s made with mayonnaise, don’t leave it out at room temperature for more than two hours. You should refrigerate it even sooner if you’re serving it in a warm environment. Leftover million dollar dip will keep for several days in the refrigerator. I do not recommend freezing leftovers.
Variations
This is a really easy recipe to switch up, so have fun trying these variations:
- Change up the cheese and use blue cheese crumbles, shredded Swiss cheese, Gruyere, or Colby Jack.
- For a kick of heat, try adding a few pinches of cayenne pepper. You could also use pepper jack cheese for a bit of spice.
- Add some Ranch seasoning for extra flavor!
- Feel free to add some seasonings like black pepper, salt, or paprika for added flavor.
Pro Tips for the Best Million Dollar Dip
- For the best flavor use real bacon bits! I love to cook up so bacon in the oven and then crumble it up for crispy bacon bits.
- Keep this dip cold by placing ice in a large mixing bowl and setting the serving bowl in the ice.
- Use a high quality mayonnaise for the best flavor. A good mayo truly makes all the difference!
Every party needs a delicious snack and this million dollar dip is always a winner! You don’t have to wait for a party, though, make a batch and keep it in the fridge for a quick snack. You will love every scoop!

Made for one of our group of 8 card night. Only improvised with using chopped almonds instead of slivered and sautéed some delicious farmer sausage that I had instead of bacon. Several guests asked for this recipe. Delicious
