Recipe Variations
The best thing about a homemade banana split is that you can customize it so it’s exactly how you like it! So, feel free to make swaps and get creative with the toppings. Here are some ideas you might like!
- Ice Cream: So many options! The skies the limit here, and there are no rules. Love cookies and cream, cake batter, or cookie dough ice cream? Go ahead and add them to your split. Sometimes we use rainbow ice cream, which the kiddos LOVE!
- Sauces: Any fruit sauces will work – sometimes I switch the strawberry for blueberry sauce! Or use just one sauce that you really love, like hot fudge or caramel sauce, and skip the others.
- Nuts: If you don’t like them you can leave them out.
Pro Tip: For parties, set up a Banana Split Bar for your guests! Use my build your own sundae bar as a guide and let everyone build their own special banana split.

You’ll feel like a kid again when you make a banana split! It’s so fun to share with the family – I mean, it’s ice cream, bananas, and whipped cream! Gather up the ingredients and surprise your family this week – they will love it.
