These baked Honey Mustard Chicken Thighs are tender, juicy and coated in a sweet and tangy homemade sauce.
Baked honey mustard chicken thighs are a great way to enjoy the juiciest part of the bird. I have perfected a homemade honey mustard sauce and know you’ll be adding this dish to your weekly rotation. The thighs are basted in the sweet yet tangy honey mustard sauce and baked so they are nice and juicy. I think I will even use the sauce next time Air Fryer Chicken Thighs are on the menu at our house.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- This dish bakes for 45 minutes.
- Homemade honey mustard sauce is so much better than store bought.
- There is very little prep to do to make this dish..
Ingredients for Honey Mustard Chicken Thighs
- Chicken thighs – Use bone in, skin on chicken thighs for the juiciest dish. You can use chicken breasts if that is your preference but you’ll have to adjust the cook time. Keep an eye on the internal temperature.
- Honey – Liquid honey is the easiest to mix together with the other ingredients. Of course, if you already have creamed, use that. Honey will balance the strong flavors of mustard and garlic.
- Dijon mustard – Dijon offers a punch of mustardy flavor but prepared yellow mustard works well, too.
- Garlic – Minced garlic really adds to the overall flavor of the honey mustard.
- Extra-virgin olive oil – Oil will help the sauce stick to the chicken thighs. I love the flavor of olive oil but you can use canola or vegetable oil in its place.
- Seasoning – Dried rosemary, Kosher salt and ground black pepper.
How To Make Honey Mustard Chicken Thighs
- Prepare chicken by patting it dry with paper towel and place the chicken in the prepared baking dish.
- In a small bowl, stir together the honey, dijon mustard, garlic, olive oil, rosemary, salt, and ground black pepper.
- Brush honey mustard sauce liberally on top of the chicken.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Pro Tips
- If it seems like there is a lot of extra fat on the underside of the chicken thigh, trim it away so the meat itself can baste in the honey mustard sauce.
- Turn on the top oven broiler in the last 2 to 3 minutes of baking to crisp up the skin on your chicken.
- If you want to sprinkle your chicken with a fresh herb for a pretty presentation, I recommend parsley. Or place sprigs of fresh rosemary on your serving platter for a fancy restaurant feel.
- Use this delicious honey mustard sauce to toss your wings and drumsticks on game day.
Storage and Reheating
Fridge: Store leftover chicken thighs in an airtight container for 4-5 days.
Freezer: Wrap each thigh in plastic wrap before adding it to a freezer bag. Thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating.
To reheat honey mustard chicken thigh leftovers, bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes. If you are only reheating one or two thighs, use the stove top. Add a little water or broth to the pan and cover until they are hot throughout.
Honey mustard chicken thighs are the perfect easy dinner to try tonight. Sweet and tangy, with a crisp skin, there won’t be any leftovers!

How To Serve Honey Mustard Chicken Thighs
There are so many great ways to enjoy honey mustard chicken thighs! A family favorite in our house is a warm, tangy German potato salad or a classic Mashed Potato. Sometimes, when I’m feeling like making something we don’t have super often, I’ll make up a batch of the Best Bean Green Casserole. The kids love it during the holidays, so it’s fun to surprise them once in a while plus it is baked at the same temperature as these juicy chicken thighs. Of course, simple sides like rice, Buttered Noodles and quick, crisp Air Fried Broccoli go a long way, too.
