Ingredients for Mint Ice Cream Oreo Dessert
- Oreo – I typically use the classic chocolate sandwich cookie in this recipe, but you can use a different flavor if you want. Mint oreos would be yummy and even golden oreos could be fun!
- Mint chocolate chip ice cream – Grab a carton of your favorite mint ice cream from the freezer section in the grocery store.
- Hot fudge sauce – You can use store-bought hot fudge topping or make your own hot fudge sauce too.
- Butter – Make an Oreo crust with some crushed oreo cookies and melted butter. Both salted and unsalted butter will work
- Cool Whip – I recommend using cool whip for best results, but homemade whipped cream will work too. It just may not be as sturdy as the Cool Whip would be.

- 9×13 baking dish
How to Make this Mint Oreo Ice Cream Dessert
- Place Oreo cookies in a gallon size resealable bag. Then use a rolling pin to crush the cookies into medium sized chunks. Reserve 1 ½ cup and set them aside to use later.
- Add melted butter to the bag with crushed Oreo cookies and shake to combine.
- Then pour the Oreo mixture on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading out evenly and pressing it into the bottom.
- In a large mixing bowl add the softened ice cream, ¾ cup reserved crushed Oreos and 1 container of the whipped topping. Gently stir to combine.
- Spread ice cream mixture into an even layer on top of the crushed Oreos in the baking dish. Cover the baking dish and place in the freezer until set, about 2 hours.
- Once the ice cream is set, remove the lid of the fudge jar and warm in the microwave for about 45 seconds or until spreadable consistency. Carefully drizzle over the ice cream and spread evenly with a spatula.
- Do not warm the fudge too much or it will melt into the ice cream. Cover the baking dish and then place into the freezer again to chill until set.
- Remove the baking dish from the freezer, top with whipped topping, spreading evenly over fudge. Then top with the remaining crushed Oreos. Cover and freeze for 2 hours or until firm.
- Remove from the freezer 10 minutes before serving so that it’s easier to cut. Dip a knife into hot water to make slicing easier and wipe blade clean periodically while cutting.
How to Store Mint Oreo Ice Cream Dessert
Cover the baking dish tightly in plastic wrap and store in the freezer for a week or two. It’s best eaten within a week, and if any freezer burn begins to develop then toss it in the trash.
Toppings for Mint Oreo Ice Cream Dessert
While the crushed oreos are the perfect topping, you can add lots of other fun things as toppings for the treat. Here’s a few delicious options:

Pro Tips for the Best Oreo Ice Cream Dessert
- Need an extra easy way to crush the Oreo cookies? Add them to a food processor and pulse until they’re all crushed up.
- If you’re using a plastic bag to crush the oreos, then make sure to grab freezer bags. The plastic is more thick and will be more difficult to create holes in.
- You can use dairy free ice cream and cool whip to make this recipe. But Oreos aren’t dairy free, so you’ll need to find a sub for those too.
