Why You’ll Love No Bake Melting Snowman Cookies
- It only takes 15 minutes to make this recip! A great last minute addition if you forgot to make dessert.
- Since this recipe doesn’t require the oven, you can leave it open to make plenty of baked goods and warm foods.
- These no-bake Christmas cookies are kid-friendly and fun. They’d be great for class parties and school bake sales.
Ingredients for Easy Melting Snowman Cookies
- Mini M&Ms – It is best to use the mini sized M&Ms because they’ll fit better on the snowman cookies. Large M&ms may look really funny with the proportions of everything else.
- Oreos – Use any flavor of Oreos you want! They will be in the center of the base of each snowman. It could be really tasty to use mint Oreos or golden Oreos!
- Candy carrots – These can be difficult to find in store sometimes, so order them online to avoid a long search for them!
- White melting chocolate – This will be the easiest way to secure all of the pieces and decorations, and it will blend in since it’s white!
- Shortening – Shortening will help to thin out the white melting chocolate and then keep it a bit more stable as it sets.
- Pretzels – Mini pretzels twist are used in this recipe, but you can use pretzel sticks for a straight arm as well.
- Marshmallows – Use large marshmallows as the head of your snowman.
- Edible food color marker – You can find these at your local hobby store or on the baking aisle at Walmart. If you have trouble finding one in stores, just order online.
How to Make a Melting Snowman Cookie
- Combine the white melting chocolates and shortening into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave it for 1 minute at 50% power, then remove and stir.
- If the mixture is not fully melted and creamy, microwave in additional 30-second intervals at 50% power stirring in between until the chocolate is completely melted.
- Place the silicone cookie mold onto a flat surface and pour about ¼ cup of melted chocolate into each section. Push an Oreo cookie down into the chocolate until submerged.
- If you need to, spoon a little more melted chocolate over the cookies to ensure they are fully covered. Set aside and allow time for the chocolate to fully harden.
- While you wait for the chocolate to set, use a food color marker to make the snowman face. Place two dots for the eyes and five dots to make a smile.
- Then use the leftover chocolate to adhere a candy carrot nose below the eyes.
- Once the chocolate-covered Oreos are fully set, remove them from the mold. Use some leftover melted chocolate to adhere the marshmallow head to the top of the cookie.
- Take broken pretzels and secure them in place with melting chocolate on either side. These will resemble the stick arms of a snowman!
- Lastly, use some more chocolate and secure three mini M&Ms to the chocolate covered cookie base.
- Let the cookies and decorations completely set and then they’ll be ready to go!
How to Store No Bake Melting Snowman Cookies
Place these cookies into a tall airtight container and store at room temperature in a cool and dry place. These will last for up to 4 days. I do not recommend storing the fridge. The change in temperature can cause the chocolate to sweat and make the M&Ms run and pretzels soft.
How to Serve Easy Melting Snowman Cookies
If you are serving these at a party, place them on a cute platter and make them the center piece of your dessert table! Place them amongst a table filled with hot chocolate cookie cups, Christmas pinwheel cookies, and Christmas cupcakes for the most adorable festive spread!
These precious snowman cookies are perfect to hand out as gifts. Place one cookie into a flat bottomed cellophane bag and tie it with festive ribbon. You can add a cute Christmas gift tag to each bag as well! Then hand out to your family and friends.
What do I use if I can’t find a candy carrot nose?
Since candy carrots noses can be difficult to find, I wanted to provide you with a few backup options. When you buy the black food color marker, grab an orange one! You can then draw the carrot nose on.
You can also make one out of a piece of candy corn or even an orange sprinkle. Feel free to color some melting chocolate orange and make some carrots noses on a sheet of parchment paper. Allow them to set, then pop them off the paper and attach to the snowman!
Tiny pieces of orange fondant can also be molded and shaped into a little nose for the cute snowmen!
Can I make no bake melting snowman cookies without a cookie mold?
Yes! If you don’t have a silicone cookie mold, there are a couple things you can do.
Grease a muffin tin really well, and use that as your cookie mold. You can also do the same with plastic cups! Grease them well and make the cookie base as instructed in this recipe for melting snowman cookies. Then once the chocolate is set, cut away the cup and the base is ready!
Pro Tips!
- You can use any small cookie at the center of the snowman base. Not a fan of Oreos? Push a chips ahoy into the melted chocolate instead!
- Make sure to keep the cookie mold flat as it sets or the base cookies could turn out lopsided.
- Want extra fun? Make white chocolate covered cake balls as the head instead of marshmallows!
