How to Keep White Queso Warm for Serving
Queso will harden as it cools so if you want to serve it at a party and keep it warm I recommend putting it in a small crock pot and setting it to low.
This will help keep it hot, smooth and creamy during the party, just make sure to stir it every once in a while!
How to Store Leftover White Queso Dip
Transfer leftover homemade white queso into an airtight container and store in the fridge for 4-5 days. Cheese dip typically doesn’t have the best track record for freezing well. It often separates and becomes grainy when you reheat it after being frozen. So I recommend just keeping your leftovers in the fridge and eating them soon!
How to Reheat Leftover White Cheese Dip
To heat make sure it’s in a microwave-safe dish, add a splash of milk to the dip and then heat in the microwave in 15-30 second intervals, stirring between each one until it’s fully heated through.
To reheat on the stovetop add cheese dip to saucepan with a splash of milk, heat on low stirring frequently until warmed through.

Of course this dip goes well with any and all of your favorite crispy tortilla chips, but there’s tons of other things that it’s perfect for too! It’d be tasty on some mini twice baked potatoes or loaded tater tots too. Queso makes everything better, so put it on anything!
What can I use in place of green chiles?
If you are unable to find plain green chiles, you could use diced tomatoes with green chiles instead. Some finely diced jalapeños would also be super tasty and would add more heat than the green chiles would.
Why is my white queso dip grainy?
When cheese dip becomes gritty or grainy, it is likely because you overheated the cheese. It is important to continuously stir the cheese dip while the cheese melts and not to use anything higher than a medium heat. Never let the cheese dip boil!
