Banana Peanut Butter Protein Shake
Banana Peanut Butter Protein Shake ~ Healthy, Protein Smoothie is loaded with Peanut Butter, Banana, and Honey. It tastes like a milkshake; you’ll never know that it’s good for you!
Now that the holidays are over and I am slowly crawling out of an egg nog-induced coma, it’s time to make a few healthy choices. Like this delicious Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie of course! It’s loaded with Protein Powder, Peanut Butter, Bananas, Spinach and more to give you a delicious, healthy breakfast or snack!
Did anyone else eat half their body weight in holiday treats? Asking for a friend. 😉
Today I’m bringing you a smoothie that tastes like a milkshake. Yep, it’s true. Creamy banana, rich peanut butter, and a thick texture that will make you think this thing is loaded with ice cream (hint: it’s not).
This smoothie is sweet and satisfying, and I’m happy to say it’s filled with nutritious, real-food ingredients. Just throw everything in a blender and you are ready to go! Here’s what we have inside:
Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie Ingredients
- Unsweetened almond milk or skim milk
- Frozen bananas
- Peanut butter
- Protein powder or collagen peptides (← my fave)
- A splash of vanilla extract (my secret ingredient)
- Honey (optional)
- Spinach (optional)
Although I say the spinach is optional, I highly recommend you try it. Not only does the spinach take this smoothie from “boring beige” to “beautiful green,” but, it also gets us a serving of dark leafy greens! We can all use more of those, right? Bonus: you will not taste it – I promise!
Use my recipe as a starting point and adapt it to suit your tastes. A scoop of cocoa powder would add chocolaty flavor. Some chia seeds or hemp seeds would add omega-3’s. You could even swap the peanut butter for the nut butter of your choice. This smoothie has the potential to be a nutritional powerhouse.
Great Add-Ins for Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie!
- Chia Seeds
- Hem Seeds
- Spinach
- Cocoa Powder
My family enjoys this smoothie any time of day. It’s a great jump start for your morning, a delicious post-workout refuel, and it can even be a healthy dessert. Here are some other great smoothies to try;
- Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie
- Super Healthy Smoothie Bowl
- Strawberry Coconut Smoothie!
- Fresh Orange Smoothie Recipe
- Gingerbread Smoothie
The next time you’re craving something sweet, give this Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie a try. And in case you need a reminder… it tastes like a MILKSHAKE!

Delicious, loved it! Filling too! I omitted the ice, spinach and honey and used pb2 powder rather than regular peanut butter. It really tastes like dessert!

Your welcome! Thanks for commenting and rating the recipe Rachel!
This is a winner!! Used all the ingredients except the spinach and tasted it before adding cocoa powder. It was amazing without it, but I was in a chocolate mood so I added a tsp and a half cocoa powder. Also amazing!! Thanks for the great recipe!!!
So glad you enjoyed it!
