Ingredients for Instant Pot Shrimp Boil
- Baby red potatoes – I like these because they’re small, you don‘t have to peel them, and they cook fast. You can use a large red potato but cut it up into smaller pieces. I like red potatoes because they hold their shape better than russets.
- Andouille sausage – This is a type of smoked sausage made with pork. It’s loaded with flavor! You can usually find it at the grocery store, but if you can’t you can use kielbasa sausage, too.
- Old Bay seasoning – There’s no substitute for this! It’s a unique spice mix with a blend of seasonings. It’s not the same thing as Cajun seasoning which is spicier.
- Fresh corn – During the summer I use fresh ears of corn but if you want to make this when corn is out of season you can use frozen corn on the cob.
- Pilsner or lager beer – A lighter beer works best in shrimp boils because it won’t overwhelm the other flavors like a darker-style beer would.
- Medium raw shrimp – Peel and devein them first! You can use frozen shrimp just make sure they are thawed first.
- Melted butter
- Minced garlic cloves
- Chopped fresh parsley leaves
- Lemon wedges for serving

How to Shrimp Boil in Instant Pot!
Step 1: Place the potatoes in the Instant Pot and top them with the sliced sausage, some seasoning, and garlic. Stir and then place the corn on top and add the beer. Cook on high pressure for five minutes and then do a quick release.
Step 2: Add the shrimp, secure the lid, and cook on high pressure for two minutes. Do a quick release so the steam can escape. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the shrimp, sausage, and veggies to a serving platter (leave the liquid in the pot).
Step 3: Mix the rest of the Old Bay seasoning with the melted butter and pour the mixture over the shrimp boil. Garnish with parsley and serve with lemon wedges.
Can you make it without beer?
Instead of beer, you can use the same amount of chicken broth, chicken stock, or vegetable broth.
