Then, we’ve added a sweet twist with Reese’s Pieces, candy corn, and cute candy pumpkins. All these delicious bits are tossed with a mix of melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla. It’s a cozy, fun, and irresistibly scrumptious snack for the season!

Fall snack mix is truly one of my favorite things to make during those crisp cool months. This addictively salty and sweet treat is incredibly easy to make. Which is good, because it doesn’t last long in my house! We’ll munch on a batch of this and before we know it, it will be completely gone.
All the comforting recipes like pumpkin zucchini bread and pumpkin cake are on rotation during the fall. This caramel like harvest snack mix is no exception. The brown sugar glaze turns into a candy-like coating on all of the cereal and salty snacks. Add the chocolate and candy corn to that, and you have an addictive snack mix that anyone would love!

Ingredients for Fall Snack Mix
- Wheat Chex cereal – This perfectly crunchy cereal adds the best texture to fall snack mix. Coat it in brown sugar and it’s just extra delicious!
- Corn Chex cereal – Two different types of Chex cereal adds a variety of flavor to this snack mix.
- Vanilla extract – Add a little bit of vanilla extract to elevate the flavor of your sweet and savory Chex mix.
- Brown sugar – Brown sugar will melt into a sticky candy-like coating that covers the cereal, pretzels, and Bugels.
- Butter – Salted and unsalted butter will both work fine. If you choose to use salted, the mix will have a more salty sweet flavor.
- Bugels – These crunchy chips mimic the look of a cornucopia. So fun! You can find them on the chip aisle of your local grocery store.
- Candy corn – Every fall treat needs to make space for candy corn, right?
- Reeses pieces – The fall colors of Reese’s pieces are great for this mix, and the peanut butter and chocolate flavors pair wonderfully with all of the other salty sweet flavors in this mix.
- Mini pretzels – Swap these out for pretzel sticks if you don’t like pretzel twists.
- Caramel corn – Make your own easy microwave caramel corn to use in this recipe. Or, grab caramel corn from the grocery store. I recommend one that has peanuts in it for extra crunch!

How to Make Fall Snack Mix
In a microwave safe bowl, add butter butter, brown sugar and vanilla extract.
Microwave the ingredients for 30-45 seconds and then stir to combine. The butter needs to be completely melted and mixed in well with the other ingredients.
Gently toss the wheat Chex, corn Chex, pretzels and Bugles in the melted butter and sugar until evenly coated.





Then place the cereal bowl back into the microwave and heat for 5 minutes. Stop to stir the mixture every minute to ensure everything heats evenly.
Pour your snack mix onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and allow it to cool for 30-60 minutes.
After the mix has cooled, add Reese’s pieces, candy corn and pumpkins, and caramel corn. Then toss to combine.
Serve immediately or store until needed!
How to Store Fall Snack Mix
Once your harvest snack mix is completely cool, place it into an airtight container. You can also store in a zip top bag and squeeze the air out of it. Seal the bag tightly.
Store in a cool and dry place and the snack mix will last for up to 5 days.
Can I make any substitutions or additions to this recipe?
Feel free to swap cereals or add different ones to this recipe! Plain cheerios, honey nut cheerios, and rice Chex would all pair well with the other ingredients. If you decide to add different cereal, be sure you only use up to 4 cups total.
Have a peanut allergy? Swap Reese’s piece for M&M’s! You can also add chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and butterscotch chips.
Nut like peanuts, pecans, and walnuts would taste delicious. Really, you can add anything salty or sweet that you want!
Pro Tips!
- In order to avoid crushing the cereal, use a silicone spatula to mix everything together.
- Every microwave is different. Your mixture may not need five minutes in the microwave. Use your best judgement and once the snack mix is evenly coated and well heated it’s good to go!
- Spread out the hot fall snack mix into a single layer. Avoid clumping things together or they’ll stick and be difficult to break apart.

Ingredients
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup brown sugar packed
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups Wheat Chex cereal
- 2 cups Corn Chex cereal
- 2 cups mini pretzel twists
- 2 cups Bugles chips
- 1 cup Reese's pieces
- 1 cup candy corn and pumpkins
Instructions
- Add butter, brown sugar and vanilla extract to a large, microwave safe bowl.
- Cook in the microwave for 30-45 seconds. Stir to combine until the butter is all melted.
- Add the Wheat Chex, Corn Chex, pretzels and Bugles to the bowl. Toss to coat in caramel mixture.
- Microwave for 5 minutes stirring every minute.
- Pour out onto a parchment lined sheet to cool. This should take about 30-60 minutes.
- Once cool add the Reese's pieces, candy corn and pumpkins and caramel corn with peanuts and toss to combine.
- Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry spot or serve immediately.
