Here are some frequently asked questions about making margaritas! If I didn’t answer your question leave me a comment and I will do our best to answer it!
The History of a Margarita
The Margarita was invented during the 1930s and, like a lot of classic cocktails, there are a few different stories about it! Some people think the Margarita was named for Rita Hayworth who was a popular actress at the time. Her full name happened to be Margarita and the story is that a bartender created the drink and named it after she tried it at a bar in Tijuana, Mexico. She shared the drink back home in California where it became very popular!
Another story is that the margarita was inspired by another drink called “The Daisy” which was made with similar ingredients except instead of tequila it had brandy. Somewhere along the way, someone substituted tequila for the brandy and they called the new drink a Margarita because margarita means “daisy” in Spanish!
Who knows what the real story is! Whatever it is one thing for sure is that Margaritas are a very popular drink!
What kind of alcohol is in a Margarita?
Tequila is the main alcohol in a margarita and there is also triple sec which is an orange-flavored liqueur.
Can I make them ahead of time?
Yes! You can make these ahead of time, which makes it so easy for entertaining. All you need to do is mix all of the ingredients together and keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.
How long do they last in the fridge?
They will keep for 7 to 10 days in the refrigerator. Just be sure to store them in a sealed container.
Can I make it without a shaker?
If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can also use a jar with a lid to shake the ingredients. Or just combine the ingredients in the serving glass and stir them together.
Got your cocktail shakers ready? I hope so because you are going to love these Margaritas! Fresh, tart and so refreshing you will want to sip on these all summer long!
