Love a cold, refreshing Arnold Palmer? Then you’ll love this John Daly drink which is the cocktail version of this famous drink. It’s a combination of lemonade, iced tea, and vodka and is named after the famous American golfer John Daly. It’s the perfect summer cocktail on a hot day!
Are you ready for all the summer drinks? I know I am and I’ve got one for you today that you’ll want to make all summer long: a John Daly! It’s part lemonade, part iced tea with a vodka kick. In other words, this one’s not for the kids! Make them a batch of Arnold Palmers which is basically the same thing without the alcohol.
You guys know how I love an icy cold drink and this one is up there with my favorite palmona, margarita and mojito drinks. This drink is perfect for summer happy hours on the patio – add some grilled corn salsa and veggie dip for some easy summer snacks to go with it.
Why is it Called a John Daly?
It’s named after a pro golfer named John Daly! It’s a twist on a non-alcoholic drink named after Arnold Palmer (another golfer!) that’s a refreshing combination of iced tea and lemonade. Add some vodka and you get a John Daly.
This spiked Arnold Palmer is a refreshing, cold drink that’s perfect on a hot summer night. It’s also so, so easy to make!
Ingredients
You could make your own lemonade and brew up some iced tea, but I just use my favorite store-bought ones to make this drink super easy! Nothing worse than a high-maintenance cocktail during the summer, right? It’s supposed to be relaxing!
- Vodka
- Lemonade
- Iced Tea
Mix and Serve – So Easy!
Fill a highball glass with ice. Add the vodka, lemonade, and iced tea. Stir and garnish with lemon slices. That’s it!
How to Serve a Crowd
What I love about this drink is that it’s easy to make just one or two drinks, but it’s also a great cocktail to serve at parties. If you’re hosting guests for a summer BBQ or potluck here are my tips for serving this for a crowd:
- First, make sure to have plenty of ice on hand! This cocktail is best served ice cold.
- Instead of mixing a big batch ahead of time, I like to keep everything separate that way my guests can mix their drinks to their tastes.
- We put the lemonade, iced tea and vodka bottles in a cooler with lots of ice. On a table nearby we set out the glasses (or plastic cups), a container of ice cubes and stirrers.
- When someone wants a drink they can grab the mixers from the cooler and mix up their own.
For the kiddos, they can have Arnold Palmers – just leave out the vodka! Or, give them their own special drink like a Shirley Temple or Roy Rogers – both are super easy to make, too.
Lemonade and iced tea with a boozy kick is my idea of a perfect summer cocktail! I hope you love this John Daly drink as much as we do!

- Aperol Spritz is a classic Italian cocktail that you only need three ingredients to make! It has the most beautiful orange color – it looks like summer in a glass!

Fabulous. My kids love ice tea, so adding sparkle to theirs as the Arnold Palmer and then just spiking my version with vodka works a treat. Kid-focussed garnishes worked well on the non-alcoholic version, just to ensure no mixing up of drinks.
