Ingredients for Seasoned Oyster Crackers
- Oyster Crackers – You can use oyster crackers or saltine crackers! Just know that saltines may change the amount of seasoning and oil you may need.
- Canola Oil – I prefer to use canola oil in this recipe, but you could you use olive oil or vegetable oil as well.
- Taco Seasoning – Use your favorite packet of taco seasoning or you can make your own. Use spicy taco seasoning to add extra kick to this recipe or just stick to the mild seasoning to keep it flavorful without all of the spice.
- Garlic Powder – Garlic powder elevates the flavor of these crackers and makes them extra yum! It’s the best addition, even if your taco seasoning already has some garlic in it!
- Chili Powder – Using chili powder will give these spicy oyster crackers a little bit of kick. Feel free to omit this if you are not a fan of spice.
- Dried Oregano – I love adding a touch of dried oregano to this taco oyster crackers recipe to help bring out the other flavors. It brings a nice little herby flavor to the crackers.

My crackers turned out too spicy. What can I change?
If your crackers are too spicy, then just omit the chili powder and be sure you use a mild taco seasoning. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the spice level on the crackers after they are already baked. So it may be a little trial and error if you end up with spicy crackers. Just try more mild seasonings on the next batch!
