Hot Fudge Sauce

posted by Julie Evink on January 11, 2013

Hot Fudge Sauce ~ Easy homemade fudge sauce ~ www.julieseatsandtreats.comI think I’m finally on the mend. I actually have a humor today and for those of you that know me this is something that is huge. My wisecracks get me through the day. I blame it on the fact of having two very loving brothers. You know how they “showed” me their love? Constant teasing.

Has this changed much? Not really but I have to say the other day I was on the phone with my mom and I was commenting how my big bro actually calls me and talks things over with me now and I seriously can’t believe how much our relationship has changed over the years. Same goes for the little bro. Sure I wish I had a sister, but I wouldn’t change a thing when it comes down to it. They are always there for me and me for them. There’s something about brothers. They are our protectors.

How’d I get on that tangent? Ok I love my brothers. You get that. NOW for this AH-MAZ-ING chocolate sauce. It’s mom’s recipe. ‘Nuff said right?

It’s so tasty plus it hardens when it hits the ice cream. Why do I love that so much? I just do. It’s my go to chocolate sauce plus my mom’s. We always get excited when she says she is going to make this for dessert! Plus if dad gets really ambitious and makes homemade ice cream this is just the perfect finishing touch that’s for sure!  Someday maybe I’ll share our homemade ice cream recipe passed down from my Grandpa “Boots”. It’s the best. And yes his nickname was “Boots”, but that’s for another post….

Hot Fudge Sauce

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Hot Fudge Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1/2 c. cream
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix together sugar and cocoa. Add cream.
  2. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Be careful not to scrape down the mixture on the sides of the pans. This will make the fudge crystallize.
  3. Remove from heat and ad butter and vanilla. Stir until butter is melted.

I always wanted a brother growing up. I got stuck with a know it all older sister, hehe. I love her anyway but as a kid, I would have traded her in a heartbeat! I’m going to have to try this sauce, My Uncle used to make a hard sauce for ice cream but somewhere along the way, everyone has lost track of the recipe.
