Do you have a go-to side dish that you become known for? This Crock Pot Creamed Cheese recipe is mine. I started making it right after we got married and since then it’s always requested during the holidays!
It’s good all the good stuff like whipping cream and cheese. Plus, it’s made in your slow cooker so it’s pretty much hands off, easily transportable and you can make it ahead of time and just turn the crock pot on and let it cook.
That is perfect for the holidays when you have last minute details to pull together if you are entertaining, or if you need to go to church and won’t be home and just because you like easy and simple.
Why this recipe works:
- Makes a large quantity which is perfect for the holidays.
- Cooks in your crock pot so it frees up that stove top and oven space for other recipes like roast turkey and gravy!
- Easily transportable if you are visiting friends and family. Simply grab your slow cooker and bring it with.
But, wait you don’t just need to save this for the holidays!
We actually like to enjoy this creamed corn whenever we are having people over or when we are having a “nice dinner” ?
The nice thing about this creamed corn recipe it’s perfect all year long! Winter… with Instant Pot Ribs you bet! Grilling up some pork chops and THIS is the perfect side dish!
No slow cooker? You should try my stovetop creamed corn! It’s just as delicious and easy to make.
Only 6 Ingredients Needed
- Frozen corn
- Cream cheese
- Cheddar cheese
- Butter
- Heavy whipping cream
- Salt and pepper
2 Steps to Prepare
- Combine all of the ingredients in the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on low 3-4 hours or until warmed through and cheese is melted. Stir before serving.
Variation Ideas
- I think everything’s better with cheese, but you could also skip the cheese for a more traditional creamed corn recipe.
- Change the cheese up. I love a traditional cheddar cheese but you could use sharp cheddar or Parmesan cheese. Make sure to grab the block of cheese and shred it yourself for best results.
- Add some seasoning to mix up the flavor like cajun for a kick.
Stovetop Directions
This is stovetop friendly too if you’d like to use that method to prepare it.
Combine all ingredients in a large saucep
an. Heat over medium-high heat until the butter and cream cheese have melted, making sure to stir it frequently.
Once it’s heated through serve.

Veronica says
Too much cream cheese 🙁
Judy says
I made this as a side for Thanksgiving. Only thing I changed is I used 2 cans of whole kernel corn instead of frozen. We like all our vegetables better fresh or frozen except for corn. Frozen corn is chewy to us. Anyway this recipe was a big hit. Not like a cream style corn in a can, this vegetable dish actually stays put on your plate,no bowl needed.
I love all your recipes. I’m 72 and still cook for family.
Julie says
Wonderful! I’m so glad you all enjoyed it!

Can you leave the cheese out? If so, would you need to add more liquid?
Julie says
Are you leaving out the cream cheese as well? Or just the cheddar cheese?

can you use canned corn instead of Frozen ? Any difference in cooking time ?

Val says
The ingredients are listed but it doesn’t say how much of each item!
Julie Evink says
There should be a recipe box towards the bottom of the post with the entire recipe and directions in it. Can you not see that? Just trying to trouble shoot because I can see it 🙂
JoAnn says
Why arent the amounts of ingredients written in common amounts instead of what’s written? Why not just put down like 1/4 c instead of the .25 c? Just makes it harder for those of us that are not so good on the math spectrum.
Courtney says
I guess I am not seeing where you are seeing the .25C instead of the 1/4 C. If you scroll down to the full recipe it has the measurements there!
Robynr says
I have all the ingredients(without running to the store) except heavy cream. I might try whole milk instead. Do you think it will work?
Julie Evink says
I would think so??

Hi! This has been my go to corn recipe for a few years now. I love it!! Thing is, I always come back to my pin on Pinterest when I’m ready to make a batch. Clicked through today and the ingredients are very odd looking. Looks like maybe a new website format that didn’t quite happen? Just wondering if there’s a fix? I can decipher it if I look hard enough / but it’s def not easy. Thanks for the great recipe!
Julie Evink says
FIXED!! Sorry, you are right, I’m trying to go through them, but I have 1500 recipes to do!
Tammy says
The recipe seems to have disappeared. Can you repost?
Julie Evink says
Sorry should be there now! Technical difficulties!
