Spaghetti with Homemade Meat Sauce!
Let’s talk about the homemade sauce for a minute because it’s so not scary to make! You won’t be standing in the kitchen chopping endless veggies because it uses mostly pantry ingredients like Contadina tomato paste, spices like chili powder oregano, garlic salt and a few fresh ingredients like ground beef, onion and Parmesan cheese.
It’s seriously a dump in the skillet and simmer operation and you end up with an amazingly flavorful homemade spaghetti that will have everyone cleaning their plates.

Tips and Tricks for making One Post Spaghetti!
Here are some quick tips and tricks along with frequently asked questions about this skillet spaghetti recipe. If you have additional questions please comment below and we will do our best to answer them!
Can you cook noodles in tomato sauce?
Yes, you can cook noodles or pasta in tomato sauce! The only thing you have to do is thin the sauce with liquid. For this recipe, I used tomato juice to make the sauce because it’s thinner and that ensures the pasta will cook properly. I love that you can cook pasta and the sauce all in one pan.
Do I need to have ground beef in this recipe?
We love to use ground beef, but you can substitute other meat! Try using ground turkey, ground chicken, pork sausage or plain ground pork to switch things up.
You can also leave it out if you don’t want to make it with a protein!
What is al dente?
Al dente means “to the tooth”, which is just a fancy way of describing the ideal texture cooked pasta should have. When you cook pasta to al dente it means the pasta is cooked, but still firm when you bite it. It’s a good idea to test your pasta a few times while it’s cooking, once it’s cooked through but still has a somewhat firm texture it’s ready to serve.
How do I store leftover skillet spaghetti?
Store leftover skillet spaghetti in an airtight container. It should keep in the refrigerator for three to five days properly covered.

I want to try this…. but may I use jar spaghetti sauce? Rao is my favorite and I really want to make this!!
Julie Evink says
You are going to need some adjustment because you cook the spaghetti in the skillet with the sauce and it’s going to soak it up. I’m guessing you’ll need a cup or two of chicken broth added to it, but I’ve never tested it.
Janie says
Amazing! I love being able to cook the noodles without a separate pan! Remodeling the kitchen and I have no stove. The recipe worked wonderfully in my electric skillet.

Well, I made this. Not our favorite. The sauce for us was way to think. Of course, it could have been our noodles. We use only angel hair. So I bet it was probably that. The look of the final dish reminded my hubby of the canned stuff. We all still ate it, taste wise, still good. You can feel just a hint of spice at the back of the throat, from the chili powder, but so, so mild. Unfortunately this for us will not be a repeat.
