This easy Taco Ring is a fun twist on Taco Tuesday, made with flaky crescent roll dough stuffed with seasoned taco meat and cheese, then baked and served with your favorite toppings for a delicious Tex-Mex dinner.
I am always looking for ways to switch up taco night at our house, and this fun and delicious crescent roll taco ring is one of my favorite twists! It has all of the flavors you love in ground beef tacos and served as a flaky crescent roll ring instead of a traditional shell. I love making this or these delicious loaded nachos for a quick and easy meal.
why you’ll love this recipe
I LOVE Pillsbury crescent ring recipes – have you seen my breakfast ring and strawberry cheesecake ring? They’re fun to make and look way more complicated than they actually are.
- You only need five ingredients – and one of them is water!
- The filling has flavorful ground beef taco meat that’s super easy to make.
- It’s not hard to assemble, and I’m showing you how to do it step by step.
- It’s the perfect family-friendly dinner! Who doesn’t love tacos? We love Taco Tuesday at our house.
Ingredients for Taco Ring
- Ground beef – If you prefer, you can also use ground turkey, ground pork or ground chicken.
- Taco seasoning – Use your favorite store bought or homemade taco seasoning.
- Water – To really accentuate the flavors of the taco seasoning and add moisture.
- Shredded Mexican cheese – This store bought shredded cheese comes with perfect spices and seasonings.
- Refrigerated crescent roll dough – The house is going to smell amazing!
How to make a taco ring
- Beef filling – Brown beef in a large skillet and drain off excess grease. Next, add taco seasoning and water to beef, stir and bring beef mixture to a simmer until sauce is thickened.
- Make the ring – Unroll the crescent dough and divide it into triangles. Place them on the pan with the wide ends overlapping in the center. The points are facing out. There should be a 4 to 5″ opening, press to seal the overlapping dough. Spoon the filling onto the dough, sprinkle the cheese over top and fold each pointed end over the filling to meet the wider end in the center. Tuck the ends of the dough under the ring in the center to secure them. There will be some filling peeking out.
- Bake the Taco Crescent Ring – Cook ring for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
Pro Tips
- If you don’t have a pizza pan, you can still make this taco ring recipe on a regular baking sheet, it just might be a different shape!
- You can get creative and use different types of ground meat and toppings every time you make this dish.
Storage & Reheating
FRIDGE: Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container up to three days. It might make it a bit less messy to store it in individual servings.
FREEZER: You can freeze a taco ring and thaw it overnight in the fridge before reheating. Make sure the ring is totally cooled off before putting it in the freezer in an airtight container.
To reheat taco ring leftovers that are still connected, put them in the oven for 10-15 minutes at about 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you are just heating up one or two pieces, I recommend putting them in the microwave.
Have you added the ingredients to your shopping list yet? You will want to make this fun crescent ring this week – your family will love it! This is easy to put together as an appetizer or even an easy dinner that will have everyone asking for more.

Taco Ring
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 ounce taco seasoning (1 package)
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese
- 2 cans crescent rolls (8 oz each)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a skillet, cook beef until no longer pink, drain off excess grease. Add taco seasoning and ½ cup water, stir to combine. Simmer taco meat mixture for 3-4 minutes or until slightly thickened and water has cooked off.
- Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles. Arrange triangles on a 14 inch greased pizza pan with points toward the outside and wide ends overlapping at the center, leaving a 4-5 inch opening in the center. Press overlapping dough to seal.
- Spoon taco meat onto the half of each triangle closest to the center of the ring. Sprinkle cheese over the meat.
- Bring each dough triangle up over filling, tucking dough under the bottom layer of dough to secure it. Repeat around the ring until the entire filling is enclosed. There will be some poking out in between triangles.
- Bake in a preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown on top and baked through.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes. Arrange a small bowl of taco sauce or salsa in the middle along with the toppings if desired.
- Cut and serve in slices with toppings.
