How far in advance can you make this?
Julie says
It is best to make it right before frosting your cookies but a few hours beforehand would be okay. Use milk to soften the frosting after it hardens.
Evie says
This didn’t really taste good
Julie says
I’m sorry to hear that!
Melody says
Do you sift the powdered sugar?
Julie says
You don’t need to but you definitely can for a smoother texture!

Julie says
No, it shouldn’t matter.

can this recipe be used in bottles for children ? I’m trying to set up a cookie party for neighborhood kids, and want to have separate Everything for each child
Julie Evink says
I’ve never used bottles but I’ve used ziploc bags with the corner snipped and had my kids pipe it on the cookies! So I would think it would work.
Carly says
Can I make this without the almond extract? Or with a substitute? I have a friend who is allergic.
Carly says
Hi Julie! Any suggestions for this? I am baking today 🙂
Julie Evink says
Skip the almond and you can add a little more vanilla or just leave as is.
Julie says
How long does it take to harden enough to stack them?
Julie says
An hour or two for good stacking!

No, this frosting is more solid. Dipping won’t work, you’ll have to spread the frosting on the cookie.

How long does it take to set up before I can stack them
Julie says
I would say an hour or two just to be safe!

Can you roll them out and cut into different shapes versus smashing with a cup for the kiddos?

These cookies puff up a lot when baking so cutouts don’t work well.

Julie says
Yes, that should work!
Angela says
My butter and milk are not creaming help
Julie says
Was your butter softened or melted? Softened at room temp works the best for this recipe!
Alicia says
I’ve also tried twice to cream the butter and milk. Will not cream. Butter was softened, milk was at room temp.
Julie says
Just mix them well together and begin adding the powdered sugar.

Hi, I was wondering if they are stackable after they dry completely?
