Leftover Ham Recipes
Easter week is here! That means you’ll be dying Easter Eggs and eating lots of ham, which also means leftover eggs perfect for Deviled Eggs or Deviled Egg Salad Sandwiches and leftover ham perfect for this pasta dish next week! I couldn’t believe it when I looked at the calendar and it was this week. Apparently, I thought there was another week in there.
I was greatly mistaken and left scrambling for things like a white cardigan for RyRy. Ahem. One would think they would be all over the place this time of year because Easter dresses for children are sleeveless, we live in Minnesota, therefore we need cardigans. Logical huh?
Well, no it’s not or at least not in the eyes of Target, Carters etc….
How do you store leftover ham?
Can you put warm ham in the fridge? No, it’s best to allow it to cool to room temperature. Then wrap it well in either tinfoil or plastic wrap and tuck it into the refrigerator.
How long is leftover ham good in the fridge?
If you have leftover Honey Baked Ham just wrap it well. It will store nicely in the refrigerator for several days – 7-10 days.
Recipes for Leftover Ham
Back to my cardigan fiasco. So I’m trolling the internet looking for one that would be here by the end of the week and I was up in arms about it. I explain my frustration to my hubs and he gets to work looking for one. He’s a rock star, which I already knew, because he found me one and I’m praying it will be here on Friday like it says!
I also had to order new shoes for Miss K because the shoes I put on her last week didn’t fit this week. Kids. I swear they grow overnight some of the time! So as long as all of this arrives on time I should have two cute matching girls to show off at Easter.
Yes, I love to make them match and Miss K thoroughly enjoys it so I’m going to do it as long as I can because pretty soon that won’t be cool at all and neither will I. Sigh. I’m not looking forward to that!

Simple and delicious! I added a tablespoon of butter and 2 ounces (about 1 inch of a block) of cream cheese. Made it really creamy. I used an extra 1/2 cup of broth.
Kimberly says
Maybe putting a lid on the skillet would allow the liquid to remain long enough to cook the pasta? I cooked it without a lid for 30 minutes and added more broth to get the consistency I was after. I ended up having to cook the pasta 30 min instead of 10-12. Very flavorful and I love the one pot dish concept.

I havent made this yet but would like your opinion on something. Instead of using chicken broth (im currently out) could i use ham bone broth? Would it change the taste to much?
Lynn says
Very good, just enough pepper flakes to give a pop. Keeper recipe!
Alice says
I have made this several times, and my family all love it. I made it tonight, but used chicken and broccoli. It was a bigger hit!
Alice says
Oh..and I used tri colored pasta.

I thought this was a good meal and very simple. My daughter wasn’t a fan but she doesn’t really care for ham but everyone else loved it.
Courtney says
I could understand why she wouldn’t enjoy this recipe then. Glad to hear everyone else enjoyed it.

Very tasty and simple to throw together. I added mushrooms and zucchini to the onions and ham and used coconut milk as I didn’t have enough milk. Definitely will make again. I cooked a little longer as I’m still getting used to the temperature settings on my range.

Awesome additions. Thank you commenting on and rating this recipe!

This recipe is not as good as it could be. I agree, the flour makes it super thick. The noodles do not cook all the way through. I added 3 cups of water to it, just to get the noodles to cook through. Personally I would pre cook the noodles, saute the ham, onions and spices and mix it all together, with a can of cream of chicken and 1 cup milk. Place in a baking dish, cover and bake at 350. Leave the flour out.

Easy and delicious

Thank you!

Next time I’m omitting the floor. Doesn’t need it, makes it way too thick/glue like. Think it altered the pasta cooking process too, pasta should have been al dente and I tested a piece which was fine but overall the rest was still too chewy. Next time I plan on broccoli florets instead of peas.
Courtney says
Hmmm… Sorry to hear that it didn’t work out for you! Did you make sure you added enough broth & milk?

Having to navigate through dozens of ads and life stories that I could not care less about in order to get to the actual useful part of the recipe (list of ingredients and instructions) is not a good way to have me come back here looking for a recipe.
Seriously, have you tried your website on mobile ? Its unreadable and disgusting because of the ads.

Please, by all means, go buy a cookbook for your recipes.

I wound up with a complete train wreck. The milk and flour mixture tickets to much and kept the pasta from cooking properly. The penne was soft but still starchy. The sauce was like glue. Maybe the milk should be added later?
Sarah says
Agree. Would create roux on side and add it later.

Delicious and so easy to make. I used chickpea penne and replaced the peas with broccoli. I did have to use more broth so I used four cups. I’m looking forward to using the recipe but adding chicken and sun dried tomatoes with it. This one is a keeper, thanks!

Those sound like delicious ways to make it up! So glad you enjoyed this one Sara!
