Baked Jalapeno Popper Dip Recipe!
Everything you love about jalapeno poppers in an easy baked dip! I mean, why spend alllllll the time prepping, stuffing, and grilling/baking/frying jalapeno poppers when you can have all of the same flavors in a hot dip that’s easy to make, transport, serve and eat?? This one’s a no-brainer, guys! I’m pretty sure it will go on your “have to make” list after you try it because it’s great for parties, potlucks, game-days – pretty much any occasion that needs a delicious appetizer.
I’ve made this a lot and it’s always a hit! We love our warm and cheesy snacks around here like Hot Buffalo Chicken Dip, Hot Spinach Dip, and Hamburger Dip and this Jalapeno Dip is right up there with them! It’s gooey and extra cheesy, loaded with jalapenos and topped with a crispy breadcrumb topping. Serve it with crackers, chips, and vegetable sticks and watch it disappear. Trust me, people can’t get enough of it!
This is an easy-to-prep recipe. It’s mostly a dump-and-stir situation with no chopping required! Oh, and if you’re worried about the spicy factor, don’t be – you can use mild or hot canned jalapenos depending on how spicy you want it.
It’s is always a crowd favorite – I know you’ll want to make it for your next party! Let me show you just how easy it is:
What is Jalapeño Dip made of?
- Jalapenos – You can also use fresh jalapenos. Remember to remove seeds and membranes if you want the dip on the mild side.
- Cream Cheese – Low fat or regular cream cheese can be used. Remember to leave it out at room temperature for easy mixability.
- Sour Cream – Low fat or regular sour cream can be used.
- Garlic Powder – Minced fresh garlic would be great too.
- Cheddar Cheese – Can substitute cheddar cheese with a sharp cheddar cheese, pepper jack or monterey jack cheese.
- Parmesan Cheese
- Panko Bread Crumbs – If you don’t have Panko, you can also use regular bread crumbs or crushed Ritz crackers.
- Butter – We used salted butter in this recipe.
- Parsley – Grab the fresh and chop it finely.

How to Make Jalapeño Popper Dip
That’s right! Doesn’t get easy than this appetizer recipe. You can see the step by step photos below or scroll to the recipe card to see the video on how to make it.
- Make the filling: Mix cream cheese with sour cream and garlic powder until it’s nice and creamy. Add cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and the jalapenos and stir. That’s it, filling’s done!
- Make the topping: Combine panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley in a bowl. Add melted butter, stir again, and your topping is ready to go.
- Assemble and bake: Spread the filling in an even layer in an 8×8″ baking dish. Sprinkle the topping over the top, and pop it in a 350 degree F oven. Bake it for 15 to 20 minutes or until the filling is hot and the topping is crispy and golden brown.

Jalapeno Poppers Dip Recommendations
- I love to use panko breadcrumbs for the topping because panko makes it extra-crispy! Be sure to buy plain panko and not the seasoned ones.
- I use full-fat cream cheese and sour cream because, um, it’s soooo delicious and if you’re gonna treat yourself – treat yourself with the good stuff! I haven’t tested this recipe with low-fat or fat-free cream cheese and sour cream so if you do, please let us know in the comments how it turned out.
- You can prep it up to a day in advance! I know, so great, right!? Just cover it and keep it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to bake it. You will need to add extra bake time (like 5 to 10 minutes) since it will be cold when it goes into the oven. When I make this to take to someone else’s house, I usually assemble it, chill it, and then bake it when I get there since it doesn’t take long!
- I love making it with regular cheddar cheese, but you can switch things up and use Monterey jack or pepper jack cheese, too. Or try a white cheddar for a different twist!
- You can serve it with so many dippers – tortilla chips, baguette slices, pita chips, crackers, and veggie sticks like carrots and celery. For parties, I like to offer a few different dippers so people have a choice.

Easy Jalapeno Popper Dip Make Ahead Tips
- This dip can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
- We recommend making the topping right before you bake it and add it to the dip then.
- It will take 5-10 minutes longer to bake than if you don’t make it in advance.
- You can also make it ahead of time and freeze the dip. We recommend leaving off the Panko topping until you are ready to bake it. You can bake it frozen, just add the topping and bake. It will take longer to bake from frozen.

OMG this is a jalapeño popper without stuffing a jalapeño. Had it with chicken and it’s the perfect combo. Made it as directed and totally delish
Julie Evink says
That sounds amazing! I need to try that combo!
Nora says
can I use mayo instead of sour cream?
Julie Evink says
I’m sorry Nora I have never tried it with sour cream. It will effect the flavor profile a bit, but let me know if you try it!
Lynnea says
Can this be made with fresh jalapeños?
Julie says
Yes it can! They will be crunchier than canned jalapenos, you can bake it a little longer if you want them to be softer.
