How to Make Jalapeño Popper Dip
- Preheat the oven: Before you make this baked jalapeno popper dip, you’ll need the oven to be preheated. Turn it on to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to allow the oven to preheat while you make the dip.
- Make the filling: Mix cream cheese with sour cream and garlic powder until it’s nice and creamy. Add cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and the jalapenos and stir. That’s it, the filling is done!
- Make the topping: Combine panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley in a bowl. Add melted butter, stir again, and your topping is ready to go.
- Assemble and bake: Spread the filling in an even layer in an 8×8″ baking dish. Sprinkle the topping over the top, and pop into the preheated oven. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the filling is hot and the topping is crispy and golden brown.
- Serve: Allow to cool slightly, then serve with your favorite dippable treats.
How to Store Leftover Jalapeno Popper Dip
Store leftover jalapeno popper dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. To reheat leftover jalapeno popper dip, place in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 30-60 seconds or until heated through.
How to Reheat Leftover Jalapeno Popper Dip
To reheat it in the oven, place it in a preheated oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes depending on how much leftover dip you have.
Can I make jalapeno popper dip ahead of time?
You can prep it up to a day in advance! Just cover it and keep it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to bake it. You will need to add extra bake time, like 5 to 10 minutes, since it will be cold when it goes into the oven.
You can also make it ahead of time and freeze the dip. I recommend leaving off the Panko topping until you are ready to bake it. Then to bake it frozen, just add the topping and bake. Keep in mind that the dip will take longer to bake from frozen.
What to serve with jalapeno popper dip
This delicious dip can be served with so many different things. Tortilla chips, sliced bread, pita chips, crackers, and veggies like carrots and celery would be perfect. Even my cheesy garlic bread can be dipped into this easy jalapeno popper dip.
I like to pair this appetizer with other crowd favorites like baked chicken wings and air fryer fried pickles. It’s a great appetizer dip for any spread!
Can I use low fat cream cheese and sour cream?
I prefer to use full fat cream cheese and sour cream because it’s absolutely delicious. My mindset is, if you’re gonna treat yourself then treat yourself to the good stuff. I haven’t tested this recipe with low-fat cream cheese or sour cream, so if you give it a try let me know how it turns out.
Pro Tips for the Best Jalapeno Popper Dip Recipe
- I love to use panko breadcrumbs for the topping because panko makes it extra-crispy! Be sure to buy plain panko and not the seasoned ones.
- If you plan to make the dip ahead of time, then I recommend making the topping right before you bake it and add it to the dip then. This will keep it from getting soggy and make it perfectly crispy.
- You can switch up these cheese you use! Monterey jack or pepper jack cheese would be super flavorful. Or you could try a white cheddar for a different twist!

I took this to a family dinner and came home with an empty pan! Even the kids and non-spicy eaters enjoyed it. I used Ritz crackers because I didn’t have panko crumbs. That buttery, crunchy topping was awesome! I will make again. Thanks for your great recipes!

So glad to hear you all enjoyed! Thanks for sharing!

I am kind of disappointed I’m not going to put the bread crumbs in this recipe again. But it doesn’t mean that I’m not going to make it again and experiment with other ingredients, the bread crumbs just didn’t make any sense to me. I did one different thing I put onion powder instead of garlic powder and really it didn’t make any difference I just didn’t have garlic powder

Thanks!

I added bacon bits that I fried up myself to the panko crumb mixture so it brought on the flavor you get with many poppers. I tried another recipe like this and it wasn’t spicy enough for me. This one is better but it can probably be taken to a higher “heat” with a bit of cayenne. I didn’t do that!

Great to know these added options! Thanks for commenting and rating this recipe!

OMG this is a jalapeño popper without stuffing a jalapeño. Had it with chicken and it’s the perfect combo. Made it as directed and totally delish
Julie Evink says
That sounds amazing! I need to try that combo!
Nora says
can I use mayo instead of sour cream?
Julie Evink says
I’m sorry Nora I have never tried it with sour cream. It will effect the flavor profile a bit, but let me know if you try it!
Lynnea says
Can this be made with fresh jalapeños?
Julie says
Yes it can! They will be crunchier than canned jalapenos, you can bake it a little longer if you want them to be softer.
